Reverting back to the topic that i was boll***** for on another thread ie the parking of cars on the canal bridge outside the party shop .There is only a single white line on this side of the bridge (party shop side ) and a single white line on the Steeton side of the bridge on the other carridgeway ie Sykes lane side so WE do need double yellows on the road dont we on this topic ill stand being corrected regards Bob

They'll just park half-on the pavement then... yellow lines don't count if you're half parked on the pavement do they...

All roads are for travelling on. The only vehicles stationary on a road should be loading, unloading or have a specific reason other than the easiest place to store it for 'free'. I know it is not 'free' but I object to subsidising through rates and taxes the parking freeloaders. As for the canal bridge. I have noticed that some of the cars that park there are gym users. You would think a gym user would be fit enough to walk down from the car park.

But they may be worried about getting arrested for indecent exposure wearing their tight lycra wear?

im guessing you have a house with a driveway/garage good for you
but i as im guessing 2/3 of silsden householders have a terraced house built before cars were invented
were are we supposed to park our cars
if not outside our houses the town car parks would be able to hold maybe 2 streets worth of cars were are the rest supposed to be parked if not outside our houses on the street

I was under the impression you couldnt park where there are zig-zags or a solid white line up the middle of the road which should stop cars parking outside the shop/gym.
When the running club organised a race from the Bridge pub cars wher given tickets there.

That was the impression I had, which means that you cannot park outside the bridge pub or outside that first row of houses after the bridge as the single white white for no overtaking extends to the end of that row of houses. But then those houses have some parking in the lane behind them anyway.

"were are we supposed to park our cars"

- good question - if it is fine for cars to clutter up public space, then why not anything and everything being 'parked' in public spaces.

the double white line system on the bridge as I'm sure all you lawful drivers know is governed by the block white line - there is no parking opposite the block white line this is why the system should work it's those that don't care that are the problem if you look at it instead of crowing about it you'll see that the single block line allows those in the houses along Keighley Road to park quite legitimately outside their own houses on the road. May I remind you there is a new version of the Highway Code recently printed which you find useful if you use the road if you don't know it then don't crow about it.

I drove over the bridge today and see what you mean... two cars parked so far on the pavement that it would be difficult to walk by them...

That really is "obstructing the pathway" and I would've love to have seen a traffic warden at work there.

With the zebra crossing, the hump-backed bridge and two very busy side turnings there really isn't any excuse for parking in that area at all.

Nope, you're right 'cja', you just stifle it by making aggressive comments!

Pity you don't recognise humour! I would remind you that 'Bob T' made the remark about you, I just made a humble joke, but you obviously wanted to make the effort to snipe at me!

Some of us really do make the effort to know what goes on in this town, not just sit on our bums and make comments on a forum!

Have a nice day! wink ;)
