IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. The planning committee have passed a planning application where flooding happens fairly often. But its OK because there will be a flood evacuation plan!!. The application is for shops/flats in the car park at Mother Hubbards chippy in Stockbridge. Guess what the evacuation plan involves???? "But Cllr Glen Miller, speaking at today's panel meeting, recommended that having a flood evacuation plan drawn up – which would be periodically reviewed and would incorporate provision of a small, securely stored boat for residents – would alleviate risk" A boat!!!!! Imagine allowing building on land that has a flood risk meaning a boat has to be provided on site..They dont have a clue |

Thinking mainly of the Belton road development, is that going to be a communal boat, if so someone will need a masters certificate. ( regulations ). |

quoteThe residents will have to sleep in the boat, the water comes up so fast there they wouldn't have time to get in the boat. This doesn't bode well for us in Silsden when it comes to getting stupid planning applications rejected. Bradford are so desperate for money they will approve any hairbrained idea while wasting millions on things like the Jabobs Well offices and the Keighley Hub (old Keighley College building) www.pulse1.co.uk/news/local/bradford-council-workers-to-get-20m-new-office-block/ www.keighleynews.co.uk/news/14620158.__19_million_plans_for_former_Keighley_College_site_are_approved/ |

Amazingly at the same planning meeting they refused an application citing that it would harm the character of the green belt. Do you think the same argument will arise when plans to not just harm, but destroy the greenbelt in Silsden reach the committee stage. www.keighleynews.co.uk/news/14685429.Councillors_reject_plans_for_new_two_storey_house_at_Bradup_Farm__Ilkley_Road__Keighley/?ref=mr&lp=5 |

Notice a recurring name here But Cllr Glen Miller said: "I think this new building would be intrusive. What is there now is horrible – I agree – but replacing it with something bigger and more intrusive is not the answer." ... and for the Stockbridge development "But Cllr Glen Miller, speaking at today's panel meeting, recommended that having a flood evacuation plan drawn up – which would be periodically reviewed and would incorporate provision of a small, securely stored boat for residents – would alleviate risk" |
