On Sunday 7 September the annual Leeds to Skipton Canal Walk will take place in aid of the British Heart Foundation. The banks of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal provide the setting for this popular sponsored walk. There are eight checkpoints and you can start and finish at any of them, and walk in either direction. Taking you through open countryside and industrial heritage sites, this walk along the canal is packed with beautiful scenery. Particularly fascinating landmarks include the famous five-rise locks at Bingley and the World Heritate Site of Saltaire village. Leeds Canal Wharf to Rodley Swing Bridge: 6 miles Rodley Swing Bridge to Dobson Lock, Apperley Bridge: 3 miles Dobson Lock, Apperley Bridge, to Saltaire: 3½ miles Saltaire, to Canal Road, Cross Flatts, Bingley: 3½ miles Cross Flatts, Bingley, to Bridge Inn, Silsden: 6½ miles Bridge Inn, Silsden to Kildwick: 2 miles Kildwick to Gallows Bridge, Skipton: 4½ miles Why not challenge yourself to do the full 29 mile walk!
