IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Over the past 3 days I have seen men in high viz coats walking around the proposed land for building. I am sure I saw Skippy talking to them on Tuesday, are they about to start work?. ( Had a fire going yesterday maybe they are just drying out the land!) |

I was told they are planting Willow trees. |

wheelaman123 not me talking to them, your eyes are as bad as mine, hahahaha the trees are being planted lower down than the proposed building land I think. |

Hi Skippy! eyes not that bad, saw the new trees that have been planted this morning. |

The land has been purchased by a local businessman and international sporting ground/pitch expert. He is having 10,000 willow trees planted which on maturity will be used to make cricket bats. Now that’s a new industry for the growing town and something else for Silsden to brag about. |

quoteCan we get him to buy up all the land around Silsden for this project? that will stop all the house building. You only need to mention bats and developers cant build |

quoteits not april 1st yet, presume this is a wind up? Not at all gingo, in the right conditions willow will grow 10` a year. They can be harvested for bio fuel in 3 – 4 years when they can be 40` tall. They would have enough girth to cut for willow bats in 10 to 14 years. What would we do without "Wikipedia"? |
