The sad thing is that the numpties who let their dog do this probably aren't smart enough to realise!

The only way to cure them I've found is catch them and MAKE them clean it up. If everyone made them do it there might be a slight chance they'd think twice.

Another way is to photograph them and put their name and address on the back (yes I know that ain't easy) and put it in the police contact boxes.

Dogsbody sell a 100 bag pack of poo bags for £1.50. It gets better, if you don't like touching the doo doo you can get a claw to put inside the bag and grab it.
Fragranced as well to get rid of the smell!

Nobody ever mentions cats! Dirty buggers poo and pee in other peoples gardens and kill wildlife.

If you own ANY animal you should be responsible for it!

Do what I did to the last one who did it outside my mothers house, find out where he lived went round and told him to go back and clean it up or I'd deliver it through his letter box next time!

Cured him wink ;)

Sorry alan i think the issue here is dog poo on pavements cats dont do it on pavements and i dont think the owners of the cats follow their cats out on a night into other peoples gardens picking poo up . Can you imagine waking up and looking out of your wiondow to find a stranger in your garden picking cat poo out of your borders ? Yes cats can be a pain but the issue is dog poo on pavements and lazy owners.

Thank goodness someone else as brought up this subject again. Have noticed that with the onset of dark nights and mornings, the problem is yet again escalating. Have been really cross this past week on my forays around town as to how awful it is. I usually walk under the cut, up the steps and onto the canal bank. The beginning of the canal is horendous, carrier bags of the stuff thrown into the hedges, if at all picked up. The snicket from the field onto the road opposite the graveyard is a minefield. Obviously large dog and lazy owner. Down Howden Road, there are piles of it on the footpath. The start of Elliot St. from the kitchen showroom is awful, right outside peoples gates. Children using this path to walk to school.
Do we hope that the perpetrators are reading these posts, and act accordingly. Bet they think it doesn't apply to them.
It's their dog, they feed it, therefore it's their mess!!!!!

The problem is the guilty dog owners are so thick that they can't use a computer so they don't read this forum.

I really hate cats horrid little beasts when I see one run over it makes my day, Dogs are ok it is there owners that are the cause of the problem but having said that more doggy poo bins would help? on the canal bank there are none so the owners pick the poo up but get sick of carrying so just put it in the wall or throw it into a tree having said that if they are seen doing this then they should be reported and fined.

No they do it in my garden and stink!

To make it worse they kill wildlife. I think that like if a dog is caught worrying sheep it can be shot I should have the right to shoot cats if they are on my land killing wildlife!

Domesticated vermin in my opinion!

If owners can't control the cats they shouldn't have them, keep the vermin locked up at home. I wouldn't let my pet rat roam the streets!

Cats are easy, all you need is some lion manure from your local zoo. They won't come within a mile of your house then.

Back on the topic of dogs, I still have copies of some of the posters the town council put up about dog fouling.

If you want copies e-mail me and I'll e-mail you a copy back. They're good for putting on lamp-posts and telegraph poles, but last longer if you can get them encapsulated.

E-mail is alan@silsden.net

Thanks Golden Oldie.

When the town council ran the campaign putting posters up a few years ago it was quite successful.

Anyone can e-mail me and I'll send 'em a couple of free designs. It's the only thing free you'll get off me! wink ;)

We would love some Alan, nearly ruined a brand new pair of boots the other day when I was out with our dog on Sunday. The worst part the poo wasn't from our dog.

I am thinking of renaming the place Bingo Town as you have to keep your "eyes down".

Luckily I have never seen anyone let their dog poo and not clear it up or they would get the sharp end of my tongue and beleive me I am not the most reserved of people when I get on a rant.

How mad was i this morning at 6.45am stood in my back yard having a cigarette only to hear over the back gate a bloke telling his dog to go and do one ! If i hadn't of been in my pjs i'd probably have run after him as he moved on pretty quickly when he realised i was there ! (maybe i should have gone out ,if he'd have seen me in my pjs it would have scared him off bringing his dog back anywhere near my house )

What a subject!!!!
Took my posters out with me today, have placed them along my daily jaunt. After lunch, off again with more. Also, took along my rubber gloves and a carrier bag. Collected as many as I could see of the thrown down poo bags. Along the cut from the steps and Brunthwaite Bridge Lane. FILLED the bag. 2 gentlemen on a canal boat shouted "well done, can't believe you are doing that". Well, neither could I, but I did feel that it was a job well done. How long before there are bags stuffed in the hedges again, we shall see.
