F.A.O. Bob This is not confirmed, but the following fits the information you have already given:
The marriage of an Edward Lund to a Frances Thornber Glover was registered in Keighley District, Dec 1/4 1859 ref. 9a 277 (fitting age of eldest child on 1881 census)
A Frances Lund's death was registered Sep 1/4 1877, aged 41, in Skipton District. (This appears to fit with the age of the youngest of Edward's children in 1881 and the absence of his wife)
An Edward Lund's death is recorded in Skipton district in 1886, aged 49.
A Frances Thornber Glover was christened in Silsden 3rd July 1836. Her mother is recorded as Elizabeth Glover. No father recorded in the transcription (although there are a number of children christened and recorded as belonging to a Richard and Elizabeth Glover in Silsden right up to the previous year)
There was an Elizabeth Glover was christened in Silsden 18 Dec 1808, coming close to your Elizabeth Thornber's suggested age ... recorded as the daughter of Mary Glover, no father mentioned.
By the way - I think your Edward may have been christened in Silsden on the 26 May 1838, the son of William Lund and Ann. I have traced 10 probable siblings.
I hope this helps. |

A few more unconfirmed sightings for Bob – Note, you should always check the original documents. The census pages, even some pay-to-view online transcriptions, are likely to have far more detail than I have accessed.
Birth of a Thornber Lund registered Dec ¼ 1860 Keighley District (9a 453) Birth of a Fanny Lund registered Sep ¼ 1866 Skipton District (9a 36) and Dec ¼ 1867 Keighley District (9a 159) Birth of a Thomas Lund registered Dec ¼ 1868 Keighley District 9a 192) and Mar ¼ 1869 Skipton District (9a 35) (also Jun ¼ 1869 Keighley Dist (9a 179) of Thomas Pearson Lund. Unlikely) Birth of an Edward Lund registered June ¼ 1872 Skipton District (9a 45) Birth of an Ernest Lund registered Mar ¼ 1874 Keighley District (9a 160) and Jun ¼ 1875 Skipton District (9a 42)
I have not had much luck tracing the children beyond their birth registrations.
I think Thomas, Edward and Ernest may have been in Keighley District for the 1891 census, but there is no obvious sign of Thornber after 1881. It is not implausible that their sister Fanny may have been the Fanny Lund in the Bingley District census in 1891, but without looking at the census itself, there is absolutely no evidence to link her.
Edward’s wife, Frances, recorded as Frances Thornber (note: not Glover) is possibly the one in 1841, age 5, in the Keighley/Skipton area. There is also a Frances Thornber in the Keighley area census for 1851, age 15. There is no sign of her as Frances Thornber in the 1861 census, tying in with her perhaps being the Frances Thornber Glover marrying Edward Lund in 1859. (N.B. I’ve found no obvious sign of a Frances Glover in the area from the christening of Frances Thornber Glover to her marriage in 1859).
An Elizabeth Thornber, age 42, appears on the Keighley District census for 1851, and age 52 in Kildwick District for 1861. (Possibly, based on District name only, with Frances)
Coincidence? - A Leonard Thornber Lund’s birth was registered in the District of Burnley in Jun ¼ 1891. He was born in Colne (which is not very far from Silsden) according to the 1901 census. |

Thankyou very much again for your help and the tips. I have been using the Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and a couple of paid sites with mixed results and also it gets a bit expensive when you are doing mine and the wife tree. The exchange rate you pay double to the pound. My research includes Ireland, Scotland, Froyle, Hampshire and Suffolk. Back to lund Thomas Thornber Lund (1869) is my wife's Grandfather. He came out to Australia and married in 1895. The above sites had very little on lund and because I knew they lived in the Skipton area and they had thornber in their name and i found the name Edward lund who lived in Silsden and his family had the name thornber(my wife name is Sandra thornber Jackson nee lund and her 2 sisters also have thornber in their name). I looked up the Silsden site and sent an email not expecting a reply when Peter and yourself came up with the goods and I thankyou for it. I wish you all the best Kindest regards Bob & Sandra Jackson |

Only just joined Silsden.net and saw the quote from Bob and Sandra Jackson in Melbourne for 2007. Would love to contact you as I could fill you in a little more on the Thornber and Lund families. My husband has ancestors on both sides of these families. Regards, Barbara. |
