Yup got a text from Beechy closing today due to lack of custom said in the begining if you dont use it you lose it very sad to see it go
though the supermarkets might have 50p bags of veg there other veg is much more expensive than fodder and also supermarket veg is just pretty looking bags of water (100% water 0% taste)
i guess people are just too lazy to walk into town and buy decent resonable priced products from good honest local folks
thanks lads its been a pleasure talking to you both for extended periods of the last year |

this is a sad development indeed.
I've never patronised them (been a customer, not talked down to) because for me they are not competing with just the Co-op, they are competing with Morrisions and Sainsbury's in Kly.
I would never do a weekly shop at the Co-op, I'm not made of money, so knowing that I plan a menu and buy all the veg I need for the week when I do my weekly shop in Kly.
I don't imagine Fodder's prices would've been better than Kly supermarkets, and even if their produce was better, I don't think the supermarket produce was that bad. I obviously can't comment on the Co-op 'cause I don't shop there, except for milk now and again.
Still sad about Fodder though, I hope they do better in their next venture whatever that may be. |

it was better and cheaper than the super market granted not the 50p deals the supermarkets are doing lately but the whole fruit and veg shop was cheaper than supermarket |

I agree with Pumbajunior, Fodder was better and cheaper than the supermarkets. You could go to Fodder to buy just one shallot if you wanted whereas I went to Sainsbury’s on Saturday and could only buy one bag. Had a similar problem trying to buy just one baking potato and couldn’t find anything suitable. Not only that, but it now means we have to make more regular trips to the supermarket rather than going once a month and topping up with fruit and veg locally.
It is sad that the complacent attitude of some of the residents of Silsden has not made more of this local service and it has now suffered as a result. The shop and the friendly personal service that it offered will certainly be missed by us.
Let’s make this a lesson to us all and support our local businesses. |

Fodder's problem was the Co-Operative having a good range of unpacked vegetables and fruit, much of it UK grown. Also many of us have a personal stake in the Co-Operative. Funny old world, we feel sorry for the small man suffering at the hands of the business many of us have a share in!!!!!! |

personally I think the co-op has improved a great deal lately. They have some good offers on their fruit and veg every week and there is always a lot more on the shelves nowadays and what is there is much fresher than before. They still seem to run out of milk occasionally though. unfortunately, fodder did not help themselves. The shop looked uninviting and it was a bit like a private club sometimes.Still sorry to see it close though |

you mean they are freindly they gave you a warm welcome and they were happy to chat to customers like shop keepers did in the old days the sort of personal touch everyone says they miss and want these days? |

I have no problem chatting to ladies in the Co-Operative Note: it should be referred to as the Co-Operative rather the Co-Op as market research suggested Co-Op was out of date and down market! Whereas CoOperative was very positively recieved. |
