IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Just a gentle note to all who use the Addingham By-Pass, watch your speed.

Twice in the past couple of weeks seen cars stopped by unmarked police cars. Suspect it's because those in Addingham are complaining and want the limit dropped.

Just goes to show it pays to have high profile councillors living in the Wharfe Valley wink ;)

If you dont break the speed limit you wont need the warning and unmarked police cars wouldnt be a problem.Yes, before you all start having a go about the nanny state,it is boring but there for good reason and that road is a really stupid roaangryd lay out at best of times.

I always thought that police used marked police cars as a deterrent? Why use unmarked other than a money spinner?

By the way, do you NEVER speed or break traffic laws Miss Jones, either deliberately or inadvertantly? wink ;)

I think I read somwhere that Addingham residents are pushing for a 50mph limit for the whole of the bypass, they already have a 20mph limit in their village, so be careful...it's going to get tougher still. And if they can get these things done...what about Silsden and a 20mph limit? Crosshills have it already for the town centre.

The town council has been trying to get 20mph, but strangely district councillors opposed to it in Silsden have got it in their own village!

Must be able to pull strings better in Addingham and Steeton wink ;)

Alan I always try my best to stick to the law, boring I know but if you have ever lost anyone through speeding a speeding driver you may learn to cut your speed.Anyway I can drive as safly as I want its the other idiots on the road that cause acidents. If people who often speed get caught by unmarked polide cars they may think ywice bout doing it again. If they just see police cars about n cut the speed then they soon speed up when they think they are clear.

Didn't say I agreed with speeding miss jones, but I don't believe the perfect driver has yet been born.

I've seen plenty of accidents, most not caused by speeding but inattention.

Sadly, we are all human and imperfect!

I believe detterant is better than prosecution, so maybe someone reading this thread may slow down.

Hey I never said I was a perfect driver, probably dont exist(but if she did....)what I said was I try not to break laws while driving. You are right, the road should be both two lanes with double white lines though as you know the double white line law is frequently broken.GG,hope you dont speed in that little ole car of yours!
