This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Hello Silsden.net

I am the webmaster of the Sutton village website and I'm emailing to see if you're aware of Craven District Council's plans to rush through proposals to build 2000 new homes in Sutton, Cross Hills and Glusburn?

Why would this affect you? Two reasons. First, the proposals DO NOT include plans to cater for additional educational or healthcare requirements. As feeders for South Craven School, this seriously affects your primary schools. Secondly, we recently discovered that South Craven and all areas between Skipton and Leeds are within the bounds of "Leeds City Region", and the Leeds City Region has been selected to host an "eco-town" to deal with the rapid increase in population.

If you're up to speed on this, please ignore this email, but if you aren't just Google "Leeds City Region" and "Growth Point". You might also search on Bradford and LDF to see what Bradford MDC's plans are (the LDF is the Local Development Framework, part of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004).

If you would like more information, visit the forum on Sutton Village website at...

www.suttonincraven.org.uk

We have mounted a "NODISC" campaign (No Over-Development In South Craven) and managed to get a Craven District Council adjourned to allow public consultation. There's a public meeting about this on Thursday 16th October at 6.30pm in South Craven School.

If you think this is relevant to Silsden residents, please pass the message on via your website.

Thanks and regards

Paul Wilkinson
