IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Burglars around Silsden again !!! |
|
| Happysnapper |
There was a burglary on Howden road this morning followed by a bit of a police chase around Ings way and Jennings close. Two young lads responsible and was good to see the police catch one of them. Whilst we were looking for them in gardens it was was worrying to see how many doors and windows were left open. These guys seem to have no morals and are happy to just commit the crimes in broad daylight. Check you sheds and garages and lock them up guys, we should at least try to make it harder the little b@ards |

Speaking to a young lady at the weekend, her young son had his bike stolen from outside their house. The awful thing about it, the young lad had bought the bike himself £270.00. How rotten was that. Some low life thought they had more right to it than the youngster that paid for it. GRRRRR. |

Todays incident on Howden Road was a house break in. Two lads knocked on the front door and when nobody answered they went round the back and broke in through a ground floor window causing quite a bit of damage. What they had not bargained for was the householder was actually upstairs and had not heard the knock at the door, he did hear them breaking in, but initially thought it was workmen banging next door. He spotted them climbing back out and ran downstairs to give chase, one of them threw himself over the hedge and into next doors garden, but not before the householder had grabbed his foot and had him suspended in a very prickly Pyracantha bush for a while, he did get free and made his escape but has been caught not far away, I believe his accomplice was also caught. It seems they did not actually manage to steal anything. |

That's great if they caught them both |

quoteThat's great if they caught them both But after their wrists have been slapped, they will be back out doing it to someone else in no time at all. Sorry to be cynical, but that's what usually happens. Or else they will sue the householder for chasing them! |

Sorry to be cynical, but that's what usually happens. Or else they will sue the householder for chasing them! A story on Radio Leeds this morning. Three teenagers scratched a load of cars, were caught and given a conditional caution each. No good to the people with a combined damage bill of £25,000. |

For once we agree Dexter, nothing will happen. Now if they'd not paid their TV licence, or defrauded the Inland Revenue, they'd probably have been transported. Sadly once the Laura Ashley brigade find they were left in wet nappies. They'll end up being given a pound from the poor box. quote quoteThat's great if they caught them both But after their wrists have been slapped, they will be back out doing it to someone else in no time at all. I have often thought it would be good to have a thread giving details on local crime. Not too detailed to affect any trial and no names mentioned unless someone is convicted. |
|
| ginjo |
the police website should be doing that but it seems hardly any of what goes on in silsden is ever mentioned on there, I think the pcso should post things on here maybe, it could become a neighbourhood watch alert for all of silsden |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) ginjo into town council on home page and a list comes up then click on police contact and neighbourhood watch items for this area can be sourced from there |

www.westyorkshire.police.uk/news/silsden-two-arrested-burglary If you went to a Silsden Town Council meeting you would know there is always a report by the police on the crimes committed in Silsden over the past month. They also report on their priorities for the coming month and there is an opportunity to ask questions directly to the police representative giving the report. Sadly there are very few members of the public who bother to attend , fortunately the police do monitor this website. |

I have seen the website with crime stats on, it does not tell you very much! the latest crimes on there are for august, also it does not go into specifics regarding the actual crime and in a lot of cases the outcome is usually "no action taken" etc etc. peter you cannot expect the whole population of silsden to attend a town council meeting.I have been to my fair share in the past and unless they have improved, they left a lot to be desired. If the police monitor this site why can't they just do a blog on here or on twitter or something.I don't think I have seen any info from the pcso on the police website regarding details of crimes in silsden (and i don't mean how many).detailed account of incidents would make people aware of what to look out for. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Speaking of STC meetings: Where are they being held now? Not been to any since the Town Hall farce really got started. Just read Ocotbers agenda and notice that meetings are being held in the library. Is this the temporary venue? |

Saw two dodgy lads in a small van this morning (Wed). One of them was walking up and down people's drives on Waterside estate. Think they were pretending to be touting for work. Their van sign was offering tarmacing services. Anyone got any ideas as to who they were? |
|
| ginjo |
hope you jotted down the reg number and what it said on the side of the van.You should also report it to pcso I am not sure whether you can get hold of him on a mobile number, I would hope so. |
