Topic : silsden town council community project money |
|
Smiffykat |
have read in Keighley news , Silsden Town council has £25,000 to spend on a community project and are in danger of loosing this money because they have not come up with a project. Come on town council what about using the money to help an on going community project - repair Spencer ave and Hillcrest ave to the benefit of hundreds of Silsden residents. |

More spite from Mallinsonout as he does not want the Town Council getting credit and would rather it went into Bradford Council's pot. |

After the sale of the police station West Yorkshire Police gave £25K to Silsden to provide a police community contact point. There are very good reasons this money has not been put to the use up to now. It was not given to repair holes in the road, or to plug a funding hole for the refubishment of the Town Hall www.keighleynews.co.uk/news/10513763.Silsden_Town_Council_given_deadline_over___25_000_project/ |

Interesting that MALLINSON brings this up now, following the Mis information he has fed to the population of Silsden relating to the Town Hall. Why does he think he can snatch that money, to then waste it on the Town Hall or some other white elephant? |

There is always a time limit on spending this type of money. The trick is to negotiate an extension if you are not ready to use it - not to ignore due process and then complain. silsden.net users general position seems to be; Bradford = Bad Bandits; Mallinson = Malevolent Manipulator, Silsden = Selfless Saints. Comforting and familiar though this may feel it ain't going to bring home the bacon/fish. Before posting any angry replies please note - I'm not a Tory and have never voted (or will) for any of our current Craven Cllrs. Local governance should be as party political free as possible and focussed on the best outcomes for the local community. Warfare in Craven/Silsden has recently worked against this big-time. If co-operation/discussion with 'Bradford' could bring better results for us, so be it. Silsden might even find allies there. I did. Negotiation always delivers better results than aggressive opposition. We all wish we were not "in" Bradford but we are - so let's manage that! |

Having walked past the community centre at Gloucester Avenue off Dradishaw Road this afternoon, one thing they do need there would be a car park on the waste green below the front of the building. Have noticed previously that there isn't designated parking there for the users of the hall, although I guess there wouldn't be enough money in the pot to cover the work needed. |

This £25K was given to Silsden in recompense for the loss of our Police Station, by West Yorkshire Police; to be used to help provide a Police community contact point in the Town, Had Bradford not continually put obstacles in the Town Councils way there would have been one years ago! For Mallinson now to say it should be used to pay for his white elephant is disgusting, one of the things he is doing is removing the caretakers office in the Town Hall, which is at present used by the local PCSO. If this money as to go anywhere other than to provide that which it was given for? Then it should go back to the Police, not to that blood sucker Bradford. |

A bit of food for thought their Paperclip. You are indeed correct in what you say. However, with past experience, BMDC cannot be trusted. I initially read into the article that MALLINSON had found out about the £25,000 and was looking to divert that funding for his own ends. |

using funds for other projects seems to be common practice with councils. The saga of Spencer ave has reminded some residents that Silsden council was given money from the MOD to repair Spencer Ave just after the second world war and then spent the money else where. Spencer ave residents are owed an apology and support in repairing and adopting this road . |

I might well be missing the point here. That money was from WYPA to fund space for PCSO officers. Why does BMDC even dream that they have any clain=m over it? Why have they become involved in it? As far as I can make out, they have NOTHING to do with it. |

as i remember this money like grandad says was given to SILSDEN not bfd , it was to be used for a police contact point, cllr mallinson was very vociferous that this money had to be used on the contact point which was to be in the wesley place buildings, which he is now insisting are sold off to pay for the town hall to be made (unusable by the majority) disabled compliant, thats a laugh initself,we at the town council agree totaly about where the 25grand should be spent along side all the other monies cllr mallinson had to do wesley place up. we are already speaking to asset management regarding the purchase of wesley place and the library for the future use for all the people of silsden not just a few(like the town hall will be) so come on cllr mallinson cough up all the monies you said you had and lets get the buildings usable again for all. |
