IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Meeting Tuesday 27 October St James Church Hall Silsden to arrange balloon launch on 16 Nov when 97 balloons will be released for 97% who do not survive this disease. Names of victims for labels on balloons invited. Also 97 volunteers needed dressed in purple to carry balloons up to Nab. Thank you |

Whilst I have every sympathy for people suffering from these terrible diseases and hope that they are leading as full and happy lives as they are able to, I must admit I am concerned at the idea of releasing balloons which is in effect littering the countryside. Please think again. |

Let's hope that you don't become one of the 'one in three' that will suffer from cancer 'offcumden'. If you are unfortunate enough you might find that there are more things in life to worry about than a few balloons released by people who care littering the countryside. Have a nice day |

[You are an off cumd un as you say. My family are old Cobbydalers for generations.Neither my mother nor my brother ever owned a car or travelled by plane ; they never smoked or drank and were frugal in their use of the planet's resources. They both spent all their lives in the mill at Silsden - my mother from the age of 12 to 65 , my brother from the age of 15 (apart from serving his country in the RHA during conscription.0 until made redundant for the building of houses. I think they each deserve one balloon as do the other 7000 plus who die in agony from Pancreatic Cancer. Look around you at balloons used for commercial and entertainment purposes - I think 97 balloons on one occasion for the whole of Yorkshire is a tiny drop in the environment. These balloons are biodegardable. Furthermore we are asking people to pick them up and send them back to the charity to see how far they have travelled. before you jusge others - walk in their shoes!!!!! My brother went from a fit man to a yellow skeleton in seven weeks of absolute agony when he was asking me to shoot him. Other suggestions please for getting into the public psyche the enormity of this cancer which kills 97% of its victims. |

katehardcastle - this post has been deleted as it was directed at an individual member of the forum who quite rightly objected, (and I don't like posts all in capitals IT'S SHOUTING and rather RUDE). You have also encouraged people to comment on your topic but YOU placed it in the announcement area, this is a non discussion area of the forum - I have moved it to the "general area" where discussion of the topic is allowed. I have also noticed you have several outstanding requests for information on the For Sale topic (which you started) www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=1685 If you want people to support your cause you should respond to your other topics as well.
