Anyone know where I can get a Nissan car key re-programmed? It's not the fob to lock/unlock the doors it's the transponder to turn off the immobiliser.

I'm worried the dealership will want mega-bucks for this simple job.

I used these guys for a Rover key fob issue....

www.remotekey.co.uk/

They replaced all the innerds and the rubber buttons for £35. Worked like a dream afterwards and only took 5 days from me dropping it in the post box.

Hmm, I'll give them a call but the site talks about sending in your ECU box! which is worrying.

I've already refurbed the keys as much as I can with new switches on the PCBs and new fob covers.

All that remains when I get the transponder chip is to program the ECU/immobiliser to recognise it as a valid key. As I understand it you plug a gizmo into the ECU control port, stick the new key in the ignition and tell the ECU to remember this key is allowed to start the engine in future.

It's just finding someone with the right 'gizmo' and having the correct PIN to convince the ECU to talk to it.

I use Hainsworth's normally but I think transponder programming is a bit specialist.

I thought I'd cracked it today when I asked in Timpson's. They can clone simple transponders but not the crypto 1 Texas chip in my key, typical!

I need to make some calls I think. The dealer wouldn't say a price without my registration, which I didn't have with me.
