This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I wonder if the long-suffering community tax payers of Silsden will get invited to the opening of the nice shiney new police station in Keighley?
Particularly as the sale of OUR police station has helped fund the building!
Perhaps then we will also be able to see what a policeman is really like as well?
Can you remember from the last time you saw one patrolling the back streets of Silsden?

Too right, perhaps what we should do as a town is actually stop paying our taxes or at least all turn up and say something to our wonderful councilers at the next town council night.
Silsden is a forgotten town unless it is near an election, come on Ann Cryer get some Police in Silsden

Sadly it ain't up to Ann Cryer but West Yorkshire Police!
Their own website shows that for every two thousand population in West Yorks there are two beat bobbies on duty at any one time. That would mean four in Silsden.
Where are they? No prizes for guessing, 'cos they ain't here!
Their website also shows that approx 16% of the precept for police goes in paying pensions for them. That means for Silsden we pay over £40k a year in our council taxes for police pensions. BUT how much also goes on sick days and all the other bits and pieces?
The question we REALLY should be asking is where are the bobbies on the beat. We are paying for them, where are they?
