This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

co-op car park today.sunny afternoon.two cars with dogs in the back.windows firmly shut all round. (one had actually set their alarm so every time the dog moved it went off!)the dogs were panting and hot.when the brain donor owners eventually returned to their vehicles they both found the necessity to wind their windows down because it was too hot in their cars!!!. it's only march! how much are these beautiful animals going to suffer when it does get serious?

I find smashing a window and letting the dogs out usually helps the poor things!

call the police/rspca they can smash the windows to get the dogs out and fine the owners/idiots

why do people take the dog to the shop/hospitol/werever else and just leave them in the car

leave them at home were there comfy n can have a plesant nap

fine if your taking them for a walk if not leave them at home

Yes the RSPCA and the police are very helpful on these matters.

We have a lot of people who visit the hospital and leave dogs in the car. Sometimes for hours on end. I have some leaflets I got from dogs trust and from the RSPCA about leaving animals in cars and how quickly they can suffer and some of the legal implications of being so cruel to your pets. I tend to leave these on the cars at work, and if they are there for longer I ask the local police to come and help us.

We had one guy last summer who came for 4 hours a day and parked up and left an elderly lab in his car with no water food or toys (we were actaully regularly putting ice cubes through the tiny gaps he had left in the top of his windows for air). We called the police and he was none too pleased but he didn't bring the dog again.

well at least if they are in the car they are not messing the streets up and I do not have to dodge round it all.

polite enquiry, sorry if it came across as smug.
Just wondered what reaction you got if you did say something

I don't think any idiot leaving an animal in a hot car deserves a "polite" enquiry. Report them.
