IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Correct me if im wrong but i thought that the local council had a duty to rid the roads and verges of this highly dangerous weed .Ive just noticed that it is rife down at the roundabout and the waste land by the old mill on Keighley road

Off to Cornwall where the verges will be dealt with by a sign and a bloke on a tractor.
Bradford Council will no doubt soon have about a dozen men woking on the road with added costs of shutting down one carrigeway!!!

corby1 the weed in question is ragwort

All parts of the plant (ragwort) contain alkaloids that are toxic to cattle, deer, pigs, horses and goats, causing liver damage, and death is slow often occuring months after ingestion. Sheep are less affected, but should not consume the weed as the liver damage can be cumulative.
