Does anyone know if there is a fair setting up legally on the site for the (alleged lidl store)
went past on keighley road this morning and there are about 15-20 fairground wagons
unsure if there supposed to be there or if they have just moved the massive stones and are on there illegally |

There have been posters up advertising a fun fair at Riverside Mills for a week or so so I guess its legal. |

Let's see how the late night noise levels go, and if they are bad, we'll get them to move up to near Skippy, and he can live and let live |

I've lived here almost ten years and never has the fair been located there. I have no quarms about anything new in Silsden, in fact, I'm all for it but I'm pretty sure if the fair was blaring out music until past acceptable hours, you'd be more than complaining.
As foe the belton road comment... Bit rich don't you think!!!! |

Its only for a few days and if it's a bit loud will just close my windows for a couple of nights.
So logn as they are there legally and some assistance will be provided if there is any trouble I can't see what the problem is. |

please note Belton roaders the gala fair used to be in the field where the horse is across from where the fair is today, and in them days thousans would be in the field making loads of happy fun noises, because they had worked hard all week in the mills of Silsden can not remember any one moaning in them days due to the fact the whole community was there enjoying them selves |

Ah - but had they invented the record player in them days?
And the need to play it at 11 on the volume control?
And did the thousands attending feel the need to drop their waste all the way there and back, shout and scream obscenties, and generally give a great impression of themselves not actually giving a flying do-dar about the place they live in?
Bri (I could put the saturday footballers in the park in the no need to scream swearwords all the time catagory too - no need for it). |

nice to see that skippy's abusive comments have been edited out...thank you Peter, there is no need for that sort of stuff on here. My dear departed mother used to say that if someone got abusive with you, then you had won the argument...she was right! I have written many positive comments about Silsden on this site, but also reserve my right to free speech, without using any personal abuse. So-called "offcumdens" bring jobs, spending and other things to Silsden, we don't need to be insulted on a regular basis. |

I dont know what you gits on Belton road are talking about. I live in the field directly opposite and its not that loud.
They even brought some horse friends for me to talk to.
Its a little dificult talking over all the traffic on the road though.
Im most concerned about the proposed treatment plant were am i going to live, i didnt see that in the plans (Bess's new home relocation). |

If it stays quiet that's all anyone wanted in the first place, so let's be happy it turned out that way, and maybe stop all these comments? Nice to welcome our first horse to the forum, have another nice day with your new friends Hope you continue to graze there for many years to come. |

well, if Bob the Dog can have a webcam I suppose Bess the Horse can post on the forum, although it is getting a wee bit surreal for my tastes
I went to the fair tonight, it was not bad for a small one, rides very cheap, not too noisy, could hardly hear the music over the traffic noise when stood by the nearest house. |

You cant beat a nice sweeping generalisation on a forum, can you. belton road = offcumden. What complete tosh. I've been in Silsden for 40 years and I dare to live "down there", along with a load of others who are all from Silsden. I know plenty of "offcumden folk" who live in all areas of Silsden. I also know plenty of cobbydalers who moan and groan about owt new (and many things slightly less significant than waste dumps) - mostly on here as well. Come on guys, lets all be friends.... Surely it's better than people want to come to Silsden than not ?? |

look they come to Silsden think they can buy a house with a view then get upset when more houses are built in front of them they talk on here about Silsden but I have been going in Silsden pubs for years and years trade for the pubs and clubs and the shops in this small town is dying off so instead off sitting in your houses worrying whats going to happen next get out and support this small town before we lose whats left. |

localman...if all you care about is poor trade in the pubs and clubs, then you are not following what is happening even in more prosperous areas...pubs and clubs are in decline, times change. As far as Silsden is concerned, there are lots of thriving small businesses. They keep building new industrial units, and most of them are taken, bringing jobs and trade to town. They keep building new houses (some by local firms) and they are sold, both to locals and offcumdens who want to live here. We have a great Health Centre with very good doctors. We have very good schools where lots of parents want their children to get into every year. We have some shops who trade well, and seem to survive, others fail, but that's common anywhere. Money is spent on the town making improvements, new roads, bridges, gas mains, etc. Overall, Silsden has a lot going for it, and it will always thrive because the people will support it and continue to improve it. Sadly, you seem to think it is doomed...the facts suggest otherwise, and lots of us like it here. |
