this post has been edited 1 time(s)

I see another late night takeaway selling chicken based products has sprung up at the bottom of Bolton Road.
Did it get planning permission?. I notice it will be open to 2-00am like the burger place next door which stays open to that time even though planning restrictions say midnight close.
Not that the planning department are bothered about such stuff out of office hours!!!!

How will two takeaways next to each other, selling more or less the same thing, opeing / closing at roughly the same times sell enough between them to make it worth while? Such a small town too... Having said that, there's so many takeaways now in Silsden that we must all be eating take out every night of the week to make it all profitable

Business must be good though outside the pizza spot because there's always a nice and quite new BMW parked outside when I'm coming back from work.

My opinion, your opinion. Don't see how they can be viable. If you do then we as a town buy lots of takeaway

i feel very much that there must be a market for these takeaways - they would not open otherwise. If you don't want them, get the people of Silsden to stop using them.

I don't think that would be either of benefit or realistic, to actively get the people of Silsden to stop using something. After all, I'm but one person with one opinion and that is I don't know how there is enough demand to meet the supply of so many takeaways and restaurants. Agreed, restaurants offer a different service but do take out also. The restaurants in Silsden are great and we use them all, not as much as we'd perhaps like due to money but enough to know. A couple of pints in the king then off to a restaurant locally, great Saturday!

However, with the takeaway in question, my original comment was about the fact there are two next to each other offering the same food, service and opening times. I don't know how it can be profitable. It must be though because someone who works there has a nice BMW.

Is it not better than folks rent a shop for a while and give it a go than have empty shops. Maybe we are a town of takeaway munchers or maybe it is a cheap business type to set up and thats why people find it tempting to give it a go. I personally don't eat take out food because I find it expensive and often unhealthy but there ust be plenty who do. I would much prefer to pay a little more and eat in a restaurant or cafe as the experience of part of the food for me. But if they can make a go it then good luck to them.

On a side note does it really matter what car they drive, they may have moeny from previous ventures or got it as part of the business loan, but what they drive or do not drive makes no odds to how well they cook or run a business

So how come a lot of them dont seem to last 5 minutes before they close and open up with new owners. They dont seem to change owners through a business sale but rather a property change. This suggests there isnt a market for so many.

Do we suspect that something dodgy is afoot - are some of these shops just ‘fronts’

I wondered that as well.I have do not eat takeaways apart from very rarely fish and chips so I don't know how busy these places get at night as I don't go into silsden at night. I cannot really see how so many can survive unless silsden has a high proportion of fast food junkies ! Is the new one bolton road also called chicago hut?
