Can anyone shed any light on who Admiral Russell Elliott who opened the school up Elliott Street was? |

Until well into the 20th century, Silsden was part of the Skipton Castle estate. In the mid 1800s Admiral Elliott was an 'agent' on the Castle staff, with responsibility for Silsden. Elliott Street was named after him and in 1872 he declared open the new school which for several years, was called Elliott Street Board School (now Aire View. There are some old school records from Silsden in Bradford Archives (top floor of Bradford Library) |
