Think that we should remember that EVERYBODY in this town is being inconvenienced!
Do I presume that if they were 'posh' cars you'd be happy? |

I am sorry that you are being inconvenienced by people legally parking their cars in your lovely area but as Alan says, we are all suffering with the road works and to argue that aesthetics are worth considering is frankly ridiculous - when people can't get to work and businesses are suffering as well as the multitude of other more serious issues that are raised by the presence of the road works. |

Arre you for serious?? As you say, the cars are not parked illegally. In fact, I travel down Hainsworth Road quite a lot on the bike, and it's reassuring to have a few more folk around. If I come and dig up the road in front of your house, you'll just put more car away somewhere and not bother using it will you? Don't think so. |

It was nice of Ellibee to let everyone know that you can park there and avoid the queues
Now I wonder who do I got to to get my car inspected to see if it good enough to park in front of these lovely houses
By the way Ellibee you have no right to park outside your own house, and if cars aren't causing an obstruction and are taxed, insured, and MoT'd they ain't abandoned even if they spoil your lovely road....... |

For future reference, which cars are good enough to park infront of yours Elliebee? 'Cause the Bentley's in for repairs at the moment, Aston Martin's got no tax. How about the brown Ford Ka?
Or seeing as ist only cars that Elliebe doesn't like, maybe a good location for that bike meet you all want would be Hainsworth Road ? |

For the record, I never said they were in front of my house. I was purely passing comment. In fact, I dont live on Hainsworth Road, just off for the record but know friends and a collegue who live on it. |

Why complain about a view being blocked when you don't even live there?
There's a really annoying lamppost in front of my house, can you campaign to have that shifted pleae? |

Pity that you've now seen fit to delete it so others can't follow the thread! |

I am sorry that anybody feels that strongly about a little inconvenience outside there house. Much of Silsden, in particular around where the roadwors are is a conservation area, the properties are of a sufficient age where they don't have drive ways or off street parking, some of us don't even have a front garden. But this also means that the properties are of a reasonable price enough for 1st time buyers like myself to buy and unfortunately to buy a house you also need to work. This then brings the dilemma of where to park the car,as most people need them as nobody works at the mill at the end of the street that can be easily reached by foot, and for some of us public transport is not the answer as we may work shifts and it is not available, or in my case I have a disability which prevents me from making use of public trnasport, the obvious answer is outside my own house.
Whilst the roadworks are here we have been unable to park within a reasonable distance of the house and have tried to park elsewhere as disctreetly as possible. My car is taxed, and roadworthy, it doesn't have an MOT but then it is new and so doesn't require one yet. As soon as I can safely park outside my property again I will do, as I would prefer to park there for my own convenience and for that of others.
I wish the roadworks would hurry up as much as the next man or woman b ut we just have to sit back and put up with it and all the problems it brings. |

Shame Elliebee's deleted what she originally said because none of this now makes sense. But it was along the lines of:
Don't block the view infront of houses on Hainsworth Road with rubbish old cars, I don't like it (even though I don't live there) |

Correct claymoreking
Now WE'RE the ones who aren't friendly. Hope she gets her new curtains soon so she doesn't have to look at us horrible people in Silsden with our old cars |

I find Silsden a very friendly place to live but also find they dont suuffer fools gladly and rightly so.Shame Ellibee removed her orriginal comment,I've been telling people about it and now they cant read it for themselves.Outside my house just now are cars belonging to bowlers at the park....mind you I'm very lucky, there all quite smart seeing as most belong to pensioners!! |

maybe time to let this one rest.....the roadworks are getting everyone uptight, and we still have a long way to go.Lighten up everyone, maybe something funny will happen one of these days! Maybe all the lights will work properly, or they will finish 6 weeks earlier than planned, or car drivers and bikers will kiss and make up? |

What is funny Alan is that you order a take-away from Keighley and expect it still to be warm when it reaches Slisden.
There are more local take-away places in Silsden. |
