This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Skippy, this could cause your funday some problems!
I don't expect the chaos to be all that well organised if Bradford have anything to do with it

thanks for the concern grandad; but it all starts the day after gala day. IF for some reason the start early the big green beast will more than likely escape and fill every thing in. nudge nudge wink wink.

Is this why the speed humps have been placed up North Street?.
If signs are placed at Steeton and Addingham it should be too bad as most traffic is through traffic.

That was a telling question, met with a deathly hush. Is there anyone that knows the answer or do we have to wait until July to find out? sad :(

the whole beck is bridges & culverts so these could almost be anywhere along the main street. depends if they're heading upstream or downstream from The King. I've never heard of Picard Bridge before though - i wonder if there's a historical link to Pickard Lane?

it could well be in that case, it must have taken a hammering in the recent floods

Copied below item 9 of STC agenda for the meeting which will take place tonight at the town hall, starting at 7.30pm This is an open meeting an members of the public can attend.

9. BRIDGE WORK.- advance notification to note - Bridge strengthening at the Kings Arms, Picard
Bridge and Road End Culvert due to start on 28/7/08 and run for approx 16 weeks.

The bridge across the beck by the methodist hall is nowhere near the Kings Arms so the question is which one is Pickard Bridge? The one on Bolton Road (or the one on Bridge Street by the Co op entrance), either way it is going to take 16 weeks to repair which looks like a lot of waiting in traffic jams to me!

All will be revealed tonight sad :(

At the council meeting last night all was revealed.

www.silsden.net/news/2008/bridgerepairs/bridgerepairs.htm

Looking at the information you will notice there are lots of detail missing. Silsden Town Council are requesting meetings with the planners and putting plans in place to minimise the disruption which these essential repairs are bound to create.
