IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. A shame a few more people didn't turn up but there were enough to ask the questions and get answers: TRANSDEV - these are the people that run the buses and the group that decided to change the route and timetable. METRO - provide the bus stops and award contract for the service provides. According to them the change has been successful with more people using the bus (762). They apologised for not providing information prior to the changes, although it was given to Metro 8 weeks beforehand. The reason given for the changes was because they have had several 'bumps' using Kirkgate. When asked if it was difficult getting in and out of Elliot Street the answer was 'no problems' The exit was made easier by the Pelican Crossing lights changing for traffic exiting Elliot Street. The changes were published on their website and local newspapers. It was requested that notice of future changes be made to town / parish clerks for dissemination. There was a note from Transdev and Metro to do so in the future. The problem location of the new bus stops and their relationship to the prevailing wind /rain was noted by Metro. After January the 762 will go to/from Keighley via Airedale Hospital (this will not affect the timetable because the extra time has already be allowed for). The question was asked about the 9.25am bus to Keighley and concessionary fares - if you have a concession you can use it from any bus stop at 9.25am Travel from all bus stops in Silsden are charged at the same price to other destinations. When asked about buses meeting trains this was fudged with the answer they have done this in the past and the train company then changed their timetable!!!! We will see what happens in the future, but it was a useful meeting. The biggest problems seems to be a lack of communication on a local level with different groups being responsible for their bit and no overall responsibility for actual passengers. |

that will be not using the buses any more then if they are all going via the hospital, its a pain in the neck , takes too long because of all the traffic in steeton.Jackson buses already go via hospital on nearly all their journeys so why bother.I do not believe them about not being a problem getting out of Elliott street, it is a problem when there is one turning in and one turning out, I also cannot see how the passengers numbers have increased, the main street is more convenient to more people surely |

quote The reason given for the changes was because they have had several 'bumps' using Kirkgate. Unfortunately illness prevented attendance because I wanted to ask why it is safe for out of service/empty Mybus school buses still use Kirkgate even at busy times. |

and for metro to put a new bus shelter by memorial gardens and then a few weeks later transdev stop buses using it by altering the route and not going down main st. |
