Topic : URGENT Say no to TELECOMS MAST health hazard in local beauty spot! |
|
| ovation |
Dear Silsden Everyone should be interested to learn of a Planning Application ref: 04/05727/PNT by Orange, being processed by Keighley Council, to install a 15-metre high Telecommunications Mast on Hawber Lane, Silsden, BD20 0LP. As you know, the area is one of Keighley and Silsden's most cherished walks and beauty spots. The proposed location of the mast would bring Hawber Lane and its surroundings and residents within the 400-metre beam of greatest intensity - ie. the radiation danger zone for health. We in Hawber Lane are campaigning against the installation and would like your support as time is running out and the Council has minimised the availability of information. We hope you will OBJECT and publicise the issue to your neighbours and encourage them to register their objections to the Application. We have only until Friday 28th January! Many thanks for your help. DON’T LET SILSDEN COUNCIL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE! Please write, quoting the reference number above to: Alison French, Planning Officer, Dept of Transportation, Design and Planning, Development Services, Keighley Town Hall, Keighley, BD21 3PA. Or email http:/www.Bradford.gov.uk/council/planning/dev/representations form.asp. Do you love this area, its walks and views, its serenity and beauty? Don’t let Silsden Council spoil it through sheer ignorance and disinterest… SAY NO to their Planning Application (Ref No: 04/05727//PNT) for the installation of a 15-METRE HIGH TELECOMMUNICATIONS MAST FOR MOBILE PHONES. Latest independent advice to Government, provided by Sir William Stewart for the National Radiological Protection Board says “it is not possible…to say that exposure to RF radiation, even at levels below national guidelines, is totally without potential adverse health effects, and the gaps in the knowledge are sufficient to justify a precautionary approach.” UK national guidelines are already below those of all other European countries! YET SILSDEN COUNCIL HAS ALREADY SAID IT APPROVES THE PLAN, without any consultation or regard for the views of its constituents! DON’T LET THEM TREAT US THIS WAY! YOUR VIEW COUNTS! Help us (residents of Brunthwaite, Swartha and Silsden) fight against this Planning Application to site the mast on the other side of the wall in the field opposite the entrance to the public footpath at the corner of Hawber Lane before its descent to Brunthwaite green. YOU HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY 28 JANUARY 2005 to OBJECT. |

Any member of the public or resident of Silsden is entitled to attend any council meeting. The council offers the opportunity, through public adjournemnt, for any member of the public to put their views at the meeting. As many have done in the past. Council have listened and acted on their views. |

Please note that Silden Town Council is NOT a planning authority and only has 21 days in which to offer an opinion on planning matters. This application was put before the council on the 6th of January 2005. An Agenda clearly defining all matters to be discussed including this application was posted in the Town Council's noticeboard 5 clear days prior to the meeting. Public adjuorment time was alloted in the meeting. NO members of the public turn up to discuss this applicaation. But Silsden Town Council DID give the opportunity and therefore fully fulfilled all and more their obligatons for consultation. |

this post has been edited 2 time(s) As stated by Silsden Clerk, Silsden Town Council are not the planning authority. The town council makes comments upon applications and always takes fully into account comments received from residents of Silsden and members of the public. The town council has been, and will continue to be, a vociferous defender of the interests of the town and it's residents in planning issues. |

Everybody will be pleased to know that the application has been withdrawn now!!! |

The application is NOW BACK on the agenda - The planning meeting is at the Town Hall, Thursday 19 May at 7.30pm. THE MEETING IS OPEN TO ALL |

I trust that all the objectors to this mast will be including objections to the existing mast that is within 400 yards of the infants school in the centre of Silsden? Research has shown that children are most susceptible to this type of radiation. I would also remind people that more Silsden residents are within the area of this mast than the proposed Orange one at Brunthwaite. |

- The planning meeting is at the Town Hall, Thursday 19 May at 7.30pm. Correction this is not THE planning meeting but a meeting of Silsden Town Council who forward comments. We are not a planning authority and only have the same say as individuals in planning matters. Bradford Council are the planning authority and decision will be taken by their planning panel. The Office which covers the Silsden area is the Keighley planning office based in the Town Hall in Keighley, again this is the distrcit authority and not Keighley Town Council as was suggested when this application came in before. If members of the public wish to attend the silsden town council meeting the planning will commence at 7.30. We are very limited on space so if you do know that a few will be attend please contact the clerk in order that she can be sure you will be accommodated. Please remember that a comment from the town council is only counted as one comment, therfore if you have strong feelings it is vital that you lodge a complaint /objection direct to Alison French at Keighley planning office before the end of May Thank you Silsden Town Clerk |

I can't help wondering how many of the people who are objecting to this mast either have a mobile phone themselves and or have given one to their children. the potential brain damage inflicted by a mast is a fraction of that inflicted by a hand set. |
|
| mike |
i cant help wondering if u know what ur talking about grandad? because its a good point but why should they put it up any way they've managed so far!! |
|
| alan |
Good point Mike. But take it to it's logical conclusion, we managed before we had the plague of mobile phones! Some might say better, because half wits driving lorries and cars had their hands on the steering wheel rather than on their mobile phones. So why do we now NEED mobile phones? |
|
| grandad |
Mike it is not what I say that is important in this matter. The facts from the experts are that there are 24 thousand times more radiation received by a person using a hand set than one standing by a mast and not using a phone. So if you use a phone there is no point in complaining about any of the masts on the grounds of safety. |
|
| alan |
Added to that there are now various other devices in common use around the home such as video senders, remote cctv, etc etc, which all use a frequency of 2400Mhz or thereabouts. Which is something like 500Mhz ABOVE the frequency that Orange phones transmit on! What effect do they have on health? |
