IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : TRAFALGAR DAY.- Weekend 21st – 23rd October 2005 |
|

From the agenda of Silsden TC for 8 Sept www.silsden.net/town_council/docs_05/sept05AGENDA.pdf There are a number of national events taking place this weekend but councillors are asked to consider what we can do in Silsden. Options are: (these suggestions are from the Trafalgar Weekend booklet issued to us) 1. some event involving the two schools – a parade? 2. some of the local pubs and restaurants might like to put on special menus? 3. a special service of commemoration at one of the local churches; 4. the lighting of a beacon. Any others? If we had lost this battle our world would have been very different today - so what are we going to do to celebrate this victory 200 years later? |

Nothing as usual! I can't remember how it goes but there is an old saying; along the lines of "somebdy should have done it, anybody could have done it, everybody wanted it done, nobody did it. This is the problem in Silsden, not enough bodies willing to do it. |
