Topic : Parking at the bottom of Skipton rd |
|
| Bob T |
When is something going to be done about parking on Skipton rd from the dentist down to Pauls D I Y ,today i witnessed 3 near misses with cars trying to navigate the double parking .Yellow lines down one side would be a help,i wonder if Peter could visit this area with his camera and take some pics ,show them on here and it may shame the culprits like it did earlier this year with that V W campervan that was parked opposite Elm Grove |

I think this has been discussed at several STC meetings, perhaps a councillor would like to comment. |

I followed a car Vauxhall Astra as it struggled up Skipton Road having to pull in to gaps to let oncoming cars get past. She must have realised how difficult double parking was making things. However she turned around with difficulty at the Green Ave junction and the parked opposite the vets but also opposite a parked car. Brainless or what? |

Well Said!!! I know of 3 people that have had their cars written off pulling out of tufton street and west view because of the cars!!! Double yellow lines please!!!!! |

Some of the parking near all the T junctions up Skipton Road is unbelievably stupid and inconsiderate, especially in these conditions. At the exit from Purcell Drive for example there are usually two cars double parked making a narrow entry/ exit even narrower, then there is another car just around the corner on Skipton road blocking the view of traffic down Skipton Road making the exit from Purcell Drive very hazardous. Its an accident waiting to happen. GRRR |

Just try getting out of Millfields with Elliott Street during school term!!! how there has not been an accident I dont know. |

The parking is probably done by those who have passed their test but not learnt how to drive. There is a very big difference. Perhaps they should know the LAW! www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069860 DO NOT stop or park * near a school entrance * anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services * at or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank * on the approach to a level crossing/tramway crossing * opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space |

Will someone tell them who park opposite the fire station entrance that we cannot get the engines out when they park there this prevents us attending emergency call outs. |

we would like double yellow lines just into Millfields (plenty of parking in Millfields but it would mean parents have to WALK) dont know if they would understand what double yellow lines mean!! |

The schools parking problems seems to have hijacked the subject of this topic which is parking at the bottom of SKIPTON ROAD. Perhaps parking problems caused by the school should be on a separate topic. |

Why not just run over one of the cars with the fire engine and then they may get the message!!!?? why not just call parking enforcement to give them a ticket for causing an obstruction? You don't have to be in a restricted parking area to get a parking ticket, just causing an obstruction is enough. |

Went up Skipton Road this afternoon, it appeared that the P.C.S.O. was handing out a ticket to someone just above Bradley Road End. Saw one of the taxi men also getting one last week. |

Went up Skipton Road tonight and it was like playing dodgems! Why do they have to park on both sides of the road and why are there sooo many cars parked there - there never used to be so many cars parked on the side of the road AND on the pavement. Perhaps when it snows a lorry (or bus) will come down Skipton Road and wipe a few out. ![]() |

I drove down Skipton Road last night. I pulled in opposite the vets to let some traffic through and a car decided to park opposite me, blocking the road. He got a few angry gestures from the other drivers. |

Went into Keighley on the bus after the snow, the bus driver deserved a medal for negotiating the parked cars down that end. Parked both sides of the road, and not very tidyly at that. How he managed to get his bus through defies the imagination. Although the worst one was at the end of Purcell Drive, the backend was at an angle across the end of the pavement, yet again left wondering how the residents coped with it in the snow and ice. It certainly added to the skid factor on a very bad stretch of road that was solid ice. |
