This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Does anyone know where the Canal swans are nesting this year. The York swan sanctuary have posted a request on facebook in order to tag any pairs.

The pair that are usually up towards Jacksons farm are at the bottom of the allotments on the canal bank. Think it's the first one that's got a pigeon loft from the recreation field.
Dad usually guarding mum by staying in the middle of the canal.
As for the poor ducks, one mum had 10 little ones last week, down to 4 yesterday. Another with 14 on Wednesday, but the heron's been along there last few days. No doubt for easy pickings.
