This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Some of you may have noticed this years festive lights are no longer illuminated! they have been switched off for 12th night, they will be taken down next Saturday 12th Jan so please come along to help if you can give us just a little of your time.
Remember the German Electricians union moto, "Many Hans make light work."

Very many thanks for all those involved in the lights project.
However on a general note I do wish there was a total ban on BLUE lights and flashing ones. Air Ambulance and Police helicopters have been confused in some intances by the number of blue lights.
PS Blue lights are not a bit festive.

Well if you don't like blue TOUGH we do!
I have never heard of a police or air ambulance helicopter being confused by our lights, they are only lit for a few hours each evening from the middle of November to the begining of January, so if the air observer can't distinguish between a christmas tree and a police car maybe they shouldn't be doing the job.

Sorry Grandad, but I heard on the radio and read on the net about the confusion re: blue lights so I would not think the media would be telling porkies and it is not 1st April.
However it is still 'my' opinion that blue are not festive and flashing lights nasty like a run down seaside attraction.

I have had another thought about the so called report; Air ambulances don't fly in the dark! so why would Christmas lights; which are only illuminated when it is dark be a problem to them?
Don't believe all that you read in the press.

Could we leave the blue lights up so criminals might think Silsden is full of police and avoid the area!!
