This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

The waste bins in the park have now been emptied but for several days all the bins in popular areas of the park looked like this

Does anyone know the number (or department) to contact to arrange for full bins to be emptied? Are bins only emptied once a week? This may be adequate for most of the year but not when we have a hot spell. Do we still have a park warden? If not, we need a contact number displayed to report park related problems.

What's the point having clean up days and using the bins if rubbish is allowed to pile up and blow all over the park

Always amazes me that folk can take all this with them for picnics, but never seem to manage taking it home with them. You should have seen Ilkley last weekend, a bomb site. Why go out for a nice day in the fresh air and countryside then leave all this behind. Like most things these days, it's someone elses problem not theirs. There, my moan for the day.

I was brought up on the Lancashire coast. We were trained from toddlers that you didn't even drop the tiniest scrap of anything. The sands were pristine. Habits formed when young stay with you. If parents don't instil this maybe the local infant and primary school could include it in their citizenship curriculum so the next generation might respect their environment better.

The park was clean and litter was in (or close to) the bins

The point I was trying to make was the bins had not been emptied - WHY NOT?
