Topic : Loud explosion around 6pm tonight silsden park direction |

Has anyone got any idea what the loud explosion was around 6pm tonight was heard on silsden moor i spoke with midway who said it rattled the windows in his house |

we heard it, there were 2 loud bangs, one sounded a bit further away than the other but my husband saw something in the air after the second one and it looked to be coming from the direction of the canal |

We heard it too. A loud bang and then what sounded like something exploding. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) we thought it was gun shots initially,but the noise shook our windows too and had people running outside to see what it was.We had a similar noise 2 weeks ago and a lampost exploded....yes exploded,caught fire and we had the fire brigade out most of the night,causing a loss of power to at least 4 houses and all the electrical items in the houses were blown. |

It was some sort of flare or similar. The went off just behind the new houses on the old gasworks and were airborne when the exploded. |

maybe someone on a boat set off a distress flare, would not have thought that would make such a loud bang, but you are right something went up into the air. very mysterious! |

It was the other side of the houses near gasworks lane or the farm behind. Not a boat |

a lot of electic vans about today around silsden, was it poss the sub station at the bottom of the golf course that shorted or something, |

I saw massive flames coming either from a farm house/building or just behind it from up Brown Bank Lane, followed by plumes of smoke. It was difficult to tell exactly what was on fire from the distance I was at, but the flames did look huge. |
