IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. What would it take to revert to NYCC? Probably still have dodgy, underground dealings, but not to the Nth degree that BMDC use. |

Silsden housing scheme is cut back after locals object The Craven Herald 2 July 2013 www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/10512112.Silsden_housing_scheme_is_cut_back_after_locals_object/ |

I think that 26 houses are to be built on half the land that they first wanted to build on. PR at it's best. |

Another 26 families get to live in Silsden....what is the problem? More work is provided for local workers...what is the problem? Local businesses get more support...what is the problem? Time to move on folks, the economy is slowly improving, houses need to be built, life goes on |

I think that it's far too easy to throw up houses, especially in rural areas. Our countryside is going smaller and has detriment to everything around us. If we become too built up, then we wont get the passing canal trade, we will suffer more through traffic, parking and schooling is already a blinkin nightmare and getting worse because more people from Keighley are joining us at school, so if we allow more houses, then we are just asking for trouble. |

Time to move on folks, the economy is slowly improving, houses need to be built, life goes on ![]() This is not the point (my fault for changing the subject). The reason to start the subject was to highlight the fact land in Silsden has been sold (subject to contract) for a large amount of money and I asked the question - how much of this money will be returned for the good of Silsden. "Coun Andrew Thornton says disposal of land at Middleway Meadow is in council-tax-payers' best interests"... |

If the plan goes ahead for a "super council" issues of this nature will become far worse and far more frequent! |

quoteIf the plan goes ahead for a "super council" issues of this nature will become far worse and far more frequent! Said it before. We have no accountability from Bradford Council and this will get passed as its Labour councillors voting for a new authority which can only be labour run. We need to be in North Yorkshire. Cant copoy & paste but the story is in the Keighley News |
