The police report at the STC meeting last night warned of the use of the Silsden NatWest Cash Point.
This cash point is being targeted by people after YOUR MONEY. This is how it works.
You put your card in and your card is not returned, you get your cash and decide to report it to the bank in the morning!
What happens next The thief, who has been watching you from afar, has your pin number from the very small camera put above the keypad. When you have gone YOUR CARD is extracted from the machine and they go to another cash point (the Co-Op) and withdraw cash from your account, with the pin number sourced from the hidden camera.
WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU The card is retained because there is a thin strip of rubber put around the slot, this allows the card to go into the machine but not out. (The retaining rubber strip can be removed with something like a key).
Look for a camera
Dial 101 and report it to the police. In the first instance this is more important than reporting it to NatWest because the police will look at CCTV and hopefully catch the thief. You must also report to NatWest who will give you your money back after a great deal of time and hassle, but they will not catch the thief.

If you read the note it say that the machine will not be in use from the 18th until the 21st - just three days. I guess they will be relocating it so that the building can be sold. |

The reason the police haven't caught the thieves yet is because they are not informed about the incident, or they are informed too late.
Note my comment inform the police at the time, when the machine keeps your card by calling 101 and then contact the bank. |

have you tried calling 101? we have and gave up in the end because after half an hour of a recorded message saying all operators were busy we realised we were wasting our time.It is an absolute joke |

Dial 101 was the advice from the police last night, and yes they have personal experience of the system and would agree with you that the system needs improvement. |

Don't blame the Police for the lack of response on the 101 number! Instead blame this conservative government for making them cut staff to a point where it is no longer working as it should. |

lack of response on the 101 number! .... blame this conservative government. DO NOT MAKE THIS TOPIC POLITICAL
It is to make people aware of the potential hazards when using this ATM
(if you want to debate the merits of the 101 telephone system then start a new topic)
