Posted on behalf of Lynn Ashraf
I am trying to find the site of a wooden bungalow that was on the moors some where in the Silsden / Ilkley area. I know it’s no longer there and the only name I have is Nab End. It was owned by Fred Watson who owned an engineering works in Silsden. If you can help in any way I would be very grateful.

I think the building refered to was owned by Arthur Watson, who had the newsagents by Con. club, it was indeed in a field just below the road at the base of Nab End. I remember it being used by his family. |

I may well be wrong ( i frequently am ! ) but i think it was on Brown Bank Lane. On the left, before the right turn to Swartha, going up from Bolton Road. The house that is now on that site is presently up for sale..." Well House Farm" ?? Hope this helps |

Thank you all for your help- I think Arthur may have been Fred's father- and I now know roughly the area that I need to search- I shall recognise the field when I get there I hope! Thank again, Lynn |

Robin and Roosterman are right - the Watson hut was on Light Bank Lane, which runs below Nab End. It was the first of several wooden 'holiday'homes which went up along there: there were also two or three in the field almost opposite. Arthur Watson's daughter, Mrs Brenda Hayes, still lives in Silsden and will know more. Her husband, Tom Hayes, once a local councillor, ran the newsagents shop for many years after Arthur gave up. |

There is a field up there with the remnants of a shed/hut in it. if my memory serves me right, it was painted green and white.
Does anyone know if that was part of the holiday homes? |
