While i have no problem with dogs off the lead in the park it really annoys me when they are not under control take this morning playing with the dog in the park (on a flexiline) 2 golden labs come from the rocks and ramps area NO OWNER IN SIGHT ANYWERE eventually a male owner arrives and i ask him to control his dogs he says he cant hear me once ive shouted louder to him he then says there not bothering anyone i say their bothering us and how do you know you cant even see or hear them ![]() i was looking round for him for a minute or two before he came into view so anything could have happened it doesnt matter how well behaved your dogs are they are autonomous living animals with a mind of their own and when there is more than one there is a pack mentality plus if they arnt in site they could be craping everywere and he wouldnt pick it up because he wouldnt know were it was i guess that could be his plan ![]() if you have dogs you have a responsibility to look after them pick up after them and make sure their not causing a nuisance |

Too many people let their dogs run loose in the park. It is a PUBLIC RECREATION AREA, not a dog toilet. I don't mind dogs. I like to see them, when they are well behaved. There are countless walks more suitable for exercising your dog. See the Silsden Walks website, ask a local, visit Tourist Information sites if your stuck for ideas! |

In your case - yes you are! |

There has perhaps been a bit of over reaction and this should not be witch hunt regarding any specific dogs or owners however it even says on the park signs dogs must always be under control. And when your wife and your dog-phobic dog are approached by and surrounded by strange dogs they have never seen before, luckily these two were rambuntious rather than agressive, you may be prone to a reaction of some sort. Luckily I had picked up the dog and carried her to safety before she got chance to get too anxious over the rude interruption to the game I was playing with her. However, one does not expect dogs 1. to come and surround you 2. to not have an owner in immaediate sight. Perhaps I have too high an expectation of how dog owners should behave. |

You really could moan about wining the lottery - and no it could not easily have turned into something that was in the Keighley new - what on earth lead to the conclusion??? Paranoia, measure an logical thinking.....no just a knee jerk reaction....get a grip for goodness sake |

Sorry for the delay in not replying to what happened last saturday morning, so here goes. In ref to what the guy said regarding my two labs; Firstly, they were out of sight for 10sec max. This rubbish of 1-2mins is far exaggerated! I walk them the same way and let them off on the bridge and then walk up the banking, so takes no longer than 5-10sec before i see them again. Secondly, you were shouting at me that my dogs were attacking yours! Again this is fabricated and untrue! My dogs are playful and have never attacked any dog. They themselves have been attacked, to which they have ran away, been submissive and on occasion, defended themselves. When i saw you with your dog on the lead, it was yours that was pulling towards mine, when they had moved on. They were around your dog for a few secs and then moved on. I think with you having your dog on a lead constantly, means that you cannot control yours off the lead and when a dog is constantly on a lead it gets frustrated & aggressive as it wants to socialise with other dogs. Maybe you should look at this first rather than comment on others. Dogs are not meant to be constantly on a lead! Thirdly, is it correct that you are a Silsden counsellor? If so, then in a position of responsibility & authority, you cannot go around stating that i'm letting my dogs 'crap' anywhere & not pick it up, as i'm nowehere to be seen. I pick up what my dogs do, and so do a lot of other dog walkers i meet. But there are some who don't. Its easy to point the finger, but you have made assumptions about me and my dogs, when you haven't even witnessed it. Not the way a counsellor should conduct themselves! For proof, look in any of the bins, i use the yellow bags which are dotted in most bins around the park. Lets hope you can put your time to better use from now on! See you in the park. |

Well said! I often see you in the park with your dogs, they are well behaved and you are always with them. They are in no way aggressive or badly behaved. I think dogs are much nicer than most humans |

Thank you firtoffee. Much appreciated ! |

I agree your dogs were just friendly and lost interest quickly when there was no game afoot with with our dog. But many other dogs are not as perceptive as yours are, in fact many are very poorly behaved. I am not going to defend pumbajunior at all. As his comments are over the top and immflamatory. But our dog is from a rescue and was poorly socialised when we got her and despite the attempts of training classes is still a little unpredictable with dogs she is unsure of and thats why we prefer to keep her on a flexilead or long line. |

Thank you hermione fraggle for your diplomatic words. If it happens again, just let my boys have a sniff, whack them on the nose or if I get chance ill call them away. As I say, they mean no harm. They just think everyone is there to play with. Glad to see you are gifted in the art of communication and diplomacy. See you on the park. |

well ive recinded my earlier post on this thread as i have now talked to the owner of these dogs and get a different story so i should`nt have made unfound comments till hearing both sides ![]() |

So the up shot is.......calm down its only an advertisement. Or in reality - chill out or since your not an "old fart" you die of worry. The worlds a big bad place - but there's no need to overreact. And also if your dogs NEVER off the lead, find someone else to look after it and it might just get a happy life! |

this post has been edited 16 time(s) Thanks dodzi the pooch is perfectly happy If you would like to take a look at the sign above i think you will find that all dogs in the park should be under control and you should clean up after them |
|
| Dodzi |
There's a difference from being "out of control" and just having a little fun - and I always clean up after my dog... ....of and the dog's you were talking about weren't out of control - you just so up tight!!!!! |
|
| pumbajunior |
not really just my dog doesnt like other dogs in its face and what is your definition of out of control mine is if they are not under control and bothering people theyre out of control |
