See they are doing it back up with a new owner and it may open next week! Seems strange to restart so soon after closing...But good luck to them. If they have nice pub grub and a simple atmosphere, it may do a bit better than the last venture? |

Yes definitely open, menu looks good. |

we drove past last night about 8-30 and the door was open and lights on but no signs anywhere to say "open" and there has not been any advertising to my knowledge so no wonder it looked empty. It is a bit pointless opening without marketing it and also without a phone number ! good luck anyway they will need it |

Tried the Grouse tonight. Very quiet as only recently opened and not advertised as they want to build up gradually. They are trying different menus over the next few weeks to see what appeals to Silsdeners. Five starters, four mains, five puds plus five red/white wines. We had Caesar salad and duck liver parfait. The parfait was fantastic and the salad very good. Then two sirloin steaks again excellent. The bread board was a very good experience - four chunks of bread with two dips/guacamole and sweet chilli. We didn't have a sweet but they sounded good. Well worth a try, as people have said before 'use it or lose it'. We shall certainly go back again. |

Have to agree with all above, the homemade bread is really good. Had the Caesar Salad as a main the first night also asked for a poached egg and it was cooked to perfection. The sirloin steaks are as good as a fillet (never thought that was possible very chunky, tender and tasty. The roasted veg whilst being a small portion, sit on top of the steak but when you eat it you really don't need anymore. Underneath the steak is the best homemade potato/onion cake I've tasted. Can't wait to try the rest. There is only one sitting so book to avoid disappointment (leave room for me LOL,) They do not have a BT line for some weeks, but they do have a mobile number for now which was being displayed on the boards outside. |

Hi all, they are now doing breakfast on a weekend from 9am. Full English and similar dishes to Egg Benedict. Hope it's as good as their evening meals. I'll definitely give this a try and report back |

Is it the people who had Nosh in Skipton? |
|
| ginjo |
I heard it was the same people that had it before, don't know if thats true or not |

Waited far too long for food, paid far too much and not enough food, we left still hungry... too caught up in presentation ie: slates for plates and little baskets and buckets. Just want good, hearty food at a reasonable price. Back to Purple Garlic for me.......... |

Had the rolled shoulder of lamb and it was gorgeous. Also had additional broccoli and hollandaise sauce, made it quite expensive but it was good. I didn't rate the liver and potato, this was quite bland and needed more gravy. The steaks and lamb seem to be the best so far. |
|
| gazzer |
Had the liver myself and it was perfect. It will be interesting to go again when its fully up and running after the grand re-opening. |

Rusti if you want large portions of traditional food , served plainly and quickly why don't you go to a transport cafe?? There are still few god ones about. |

when is the grand reopening, does anyone know? they maybe should invest in a bit of advertising, I get plenty of literature through the door for asian restaurants, maybe the grouse should try doing a similar marketing excercise, its impossible to read all the blackboards outside when passing on the bus or in a car there is much information to take in.Just a suggestion to help, not meant as a critisism |

It is nice to have somewhere you can walk to that is different to either eat or just have a drink. I have tried the Grouse and really enjoyed it, I hope this time Silsden people will support it. It is not the same people who had it before and the grand opening is on Sunday 16 June Father's Day. |

this post has been edited 4 time(s) I completely agree with ginjo. If they want to make a success of their business they should invest in a bit of marketing and promote their business. They should take a leaf out of Sid's book at Curry Corner. He is always posting his offers on this website and that is why he is successful, as well as offering good food. In business you should continually remind people that you are there and still operating. It's alright telling people to support this place or lose it, but they (The Grouse)have got to do their bit as well. Where is their website?? Like all popular restaurants you can look at there website to see what they have got to offer and show their full menu. Come on Grouse; promote your business. |

Eaten at grouse tonight and the meal and service were spot on the atmosphere was a little lacking as we were the only people in (it was nearly 9pm when we arrived). Had sirloin and Ceaser salad main with side of new potatoes (not on menu) both delicious steak top quality. Bread board a welcome bonus homemade bread with balsamic dip, curried popcorn and prawn crackers. Ingredients sourced local as much as possible meat supplied by Isherwoods. The owners also have/has the Bay Horse at Weatherby. Will definitely be going again. |

Another plus for the Grouse from us tonight, Friday, very good meal and service at realistic prices. 16 in when we left around 7 ish so the word is spreading. |

Photoman - when did Stefano's or Bella Napoli at Crosshills last promote their business? They didn't. Their food is tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. You can nit pick about either place but the fact is that they are the best eateries for miles around, end of... stop moaning about a pound here and a pound there, hearty food this and hearty food that. If you want full tummies for a table of 4 for less than £60/70, it wont happen. Stop being tight and pay the going rate! That's why the Grouse doesn't last more than a month or 2 because the criteria is "top quality service and food for rock bottom prices!!!" That combo doesn't work... Try this - "you get what you pay for" - and then post your grievances on here. Nice and Spicey at Crosshills do Donner meat and chips for £2.80. I would never criticise a meal that I had paid £2.80 for, you get me? |
|
| photoman |
Keith Lemon - Stefanos & Bella Napoli are well established businesses and have offered good quality food for a long time and have built up a loyal customer base. On the other hand 'The Grouse' has just opened up with new owners. It is in their interest to advertise what they offer as a new business. Fair enough there appears to be quite a few people who have come onto this site and given it good reviews but if The Grouse wants to build up a quick customer base then they have got to advertise. |

This is the bit that makes silsden.net free ![]() www.silsden.net/about/email.shtm I think the Grouse has had it fair share of free advertising on this forum and I will close this topic soon. Peter ![]() |
