It was nice to see a good turn out at the Cenotaph in Silsden today young and old all gathered to pay respect to service men and women past and present. |

I heartily agree, but have to say that it's a tragedy that we are losing so many fine young men in a god-forsaken fly-blown dump like Afghanistan. The fools who sent them there have obviously never read a history book. Everyone who has ever meddled in Afghan affairs has left with a bloody nose. |

What do you mean “we had our Vietnam”? That was the Yanks and they got their butts kicked there as well. It is sad when anybody looses their life, and we should remember them. One of my ex work colleague lost his life trying to save a mate, but he died doing what he always wanted too. |

Agreed nabend it was a line from the film Rambo 3 the American General says it to the Russian General He basically states you cant win against the Afgan mujahadeen |

I would like to thank and congratulate the Royal British Legion Silsden & District Branch,Silsden Town Band,the Police for traffic control and our vicar of St.James Parish Church, David, for such a poignant,memorable service that encompassed all,Mr.David Cooper who entertained us once again without charge to the Legion !! Neil & Julie with their friendly hard working staff at the Twisters,Andrew's Mum for a truly Excellent buffet the band along with dave who captured with entertainment the mood of the day finally I thank the good people of Silsden for your respect,attendance,donations,support and unity. Please accept my sincere apologies if I have missed any one out who contributed to such a special day.SILSDEN WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM...Thank You. |
