A large hole has just been dug on Hainsworth Road and red lines have appeared on the carriageway. Are we now part of the congestion charging zone? |

According to the contractors, the connection to the water main for the new houses on Belton Road is going from Clog Bridge, under the canal, and along Hainsworth Road to avoid disruption on Keighley Road. Very laudable sentiments, but it does not correspond with Yorkshire Water's website that shows traffic lights and disruption on Keighley Road but delays unlikely on Hainsworth Road. Must be a very narrow water main. I am awaiting a call back from "somebody at Yorkshire Water who knows what's going on". Does anybody know of any local residents who have been informed officially? |

I finally had a phone call from a man at Morrisons Utilities. Apparently, the current works are just exploratory, to "find out" if the water to Belton Road houses can be supplied via Hainsworth Road. If it is suitable, there will be full closure of the road and culvert and a diversion set up! The most interesting point in a long and repetitive conversation was that the MAIN pipe along Keighley Road CANNOT be used because it would not take the pressure required for so many houses and there would be "leaks all over the place". Did the planners forget to consult Yorkshire Water before granting planning permission? |

Lets hope they don`t start any work until after the carnival is done, as the parade starts on Howden road and traffic lights would be a big problem |

there are several letters from Yorkshire water on the planning application, mostly about foul water and surface water but one letter about water supply which says there is a live 6" diameter water main in Belton Road which may be affected by the proposed new access to the site, could not see anything about not connecting to Keighley road. |
