As the earlier thread was an event notice, I will start this thread. It was not made clear that Silsden Gala were sole organisers of the event, in the press release it simply stated that the Gala organisers were hosting the event. I assumed that since Bradford Met had invested so heavily into the refurbishment of the Town Hall, they would have taken some of the responsibility for the organisation, but obviously I was wrong. As for your comment about having a go at you (the Gala Committee), I do not understand where this comes from. I asked a civil question about the event you publicised, in no way was I having a go. I know that the Gala Committee puts a lot of effort into organising the gala, fireworks and Xmas market etc. and respect them for this. Perhaps if you advertised in a NICE way that you are looking for new commitee members (a few posters in the local shops a request on here and possibly something in the Keighley News) you may get some new blood to make things easier. |

I too did not intend any criticism, all I wanted to know is where do disabled people book for the only two places that are available in the Town Hall for wheelchair users? |

Silsden Gala Committee are not the sole organisers,we are just doing the entertainment and market and the funds raised go to the Gala. Bradmet are hiring the town hall therefor any safety issues are with them.It will be staffed on the day by Bradmet if you have any concerns. We have asked for helpers in the past and have never had a good response,our next event is the gala on the last Sunday in July and many helpers are needed for this event.On Sunday 9th February we will be holding a meeting in The King at 1pm if anyone wants to offer their services for the Gala we would be happy to meet you. Appologies if I sounded annoyed on my last post but it does get vexing when you work hard for an event only to be met with negativity. |
