At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. These houses that are up for planning, anybody know the background? These were allottments in the 1950's owned by Silsden Urban District Council. The gardeners were asked to leave because the council wished to build council houses. In the event just two houses were built then in the 1960's the council the council built some lock up garages to rent. The land passed tp Bradford Council who maintained the garages through to the 1990's at least.I used to work on them so I know they were maintained by the council. In 2003 Bradford Council transfered its housing stock to Incommunities and I guess that included this land. Moving forward to the current planning application. The applicant is BCHT Development Company LTD. The Company named on the drawings is Lumia Homes Ltd Various names crop up with these companies so lets pick one Geraldine Howley May 2000 to Feb 2003 Housing Director Bradford Council Feb 2003 to present Cheif Executive Incommunities Dec 2006 to present Director BCHT Development Company Ltd Feb 2006 to present Director Lumia Homes Ltd(this company may have gone into liquidation |

STC objected to this planning application. It was included in the draft Neighbourhood Plan as green space. There are some interesting objections to the plans on Bradford's Planning Portal planning.bradford.gov.uk/ Then do a simple search for 18/03486/FUL |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) quoteSo all these companies are Incommunities owned so why are these houses not looking like social housing I think you can safely say INCOMMUNITIES own BCHT because Incommunities Group Ltd has over 3/4 of shares, 3/4 to full of voting rights on the BCHT board panel! On the incommunities website it states: "Incommunities Group is one of the largest social housing providers in the UK. The Group was formed as BCHT (Bradford Community Housing Trust) following the transfer of housing stock from Bradford Council in February 2003.” It would appear that BCHT is still going and did not fully merge or split! Is there a conflict of interest? Possibly.. because there values appear very different! BCHT is classified as "other social work activities without accommodation n.e.c.” whereas INCOMMUNITIES Have values towards aspects of social housing! They say on there website the following: We Believe Everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Communities should be great places in which to live If BCHT is classifed as "other social work activities without accommodation n.e.c.” then why are they building private houses? |

It sounds like the land should have been registered to have Village Green Status ..... a long time ago. https://www.out-law.com/topics/property/planning/registering-town-and-village-greens/ As far as I can remember the land has to been used by the public for at least 20 years. |
