IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : How wonderful is that? |
|
| Peter |
Posted on behalf of Harrie From: Harrie Subject: Silsden Youth Council Message: It's been a very long time since I've witnessed a community in Silsden doing good. Driving up Bradley Road/Horn Lane, I was slowed down by a group of young people with their mentors picking up litter!!! How wonderful is that? Since the Council has insisted on our bins being at the end of the farm tracks the accumulation of waste has increased. The efforts of these young people is very much appreciated by me and I'm sure of the other people who live in what is now a waste free zone. THANK YOU VERY MUCH |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Does anyone else feel a little bit uneasy at this posting. It makes me wonder whether the young people were being paid - they certainly seem to have done a good job. I don't know if they were of school age or working age. It makes me wonder why they were not at school or in a job. And how they came to be picking up litter. I hope that this scenario is as heart-warming as it seems. And I know that there are many issues here - I am just expressing one aspect of it. Hopefully it was a community project carried out at the weekend maybe? |

Perhaps you should look at this page and see what Silsden Youth Council actually does for Silsden: www.silsden.net/townyouth_council/index.htm |

Okay so looking again, it seems to have been a project undertaken by young people in a community organised effort. so well done them! and unease is now eased! |

These youngsters do a grand job, pity there aren't more like them!! It is normal to see young ones dropping litter whilst walking along, but then they probably belong to the adults that do it as well. |

Harrie must be the lovely lady who stopped and gave us a generous donation, thank you. we had a Youth Council meeting last night and wish I had seen these posts first,it would have given them all a boost. Watch this space as another litter pick is planned,6th April possibly,to finish off bottom of Bradley Road. Thank you for all your positive comments. |
