This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Hi, I'm trying to track down the School song / hymn sung at Silsden School in the 1820's for the Silsden Community Productions play in February 2010. (It wasn't Jerusalem - apparently this wasn't written until late 1800's).
Does anyone have details about it?
Thanks

I would suggest you look no further than a Ranters hymn book (Methodist). The school in 1820 would almost certainly been Methodist run and and very evangelical.

See the extract from the excellent book "A Village Tapestry" by Roy Mason

A few copies of Roy Mason's books on village history - "Pennine Village, "Pennine Boyhood" and "A Village Tapestry- are still available from his daughter Cathy Liddle.
Occasionally one of Roy's books appears on Ebay.

Trish, what about 'I was born under a wandering star'.

That sounds religious and is from a thespian show.

Or 'Jesus Christ Superstar', religious and luvy.
