IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Would like to have responses about Digital TV reception in Silsden. I have digital box - reception on the BBC channels is reasonable, but does vary. Reception on ITV channels is very poor - often with failing signal. Is it my set up and/or location or do others have issues? Anybody know who to contact to get a technical answer? |

Have no problems at all with any channels. But it will depend where you are in Silsden and where you take your signal from. Some take it from Emley and others from the relay at Rivock Edge. Give me a rough idea where you are and if you use the relay. |

Hi Alan - thanks for response. I live near Coop and aerial points to Rivock Edge. looks like I have an equipment fault if reception OK with you. To help others with reception issues I have found a good site for information: www.bbc.co.uk/reception/digital_tv/freeview_home.shtml |

Don't be too hasty to blame your TV equipment. My aerial points to Rivock Edge and the reception of ITV programmes is not brilliant at all. (BBC is ok). I use cable for most of my viewing so haven't sorted the ITV reception due to time constrants. As Rivock Edge is a relay your aerial should be orientated in the vertical plane. The aerial is one of the most important components to good reception and the first place to start sorting out the problem. You might find something here from Ofcom www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/ra/publication/ra_info/ra415/ra415.htm |

I live up th top end of town, I have had two ariels since channel five came out, one for Emely moor and one for Keighley tranmitters, the reception we get with digital varies wildly some times it goes off all together. |

Down near canal reception is OK, but, the aerial has to be on the roof and pointing in the right direction, towards the transmitter. When it was windy the aerial moved and reception went. Fortunately I can twist it back from within the loft. It is fitted to the wall inside the loft and pokes through a hole in a tile. Being the middle of a terrace gave me little option, the windy days has proved it to be a good option. |

Just a warning to watch it when the Analogue signal is switched off. The Digital signal at the moment is at "lower power" so there is no interference with the Analogue 5. When the analogue is switched off the power will be increased and reception improved. |
