IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Now we are talking politics what does everyone want from the succesfull candidate. This is a policy thread and not about candidates.Plenty of threads for that. I will kick it off. Can pressure be put on the police to act when illegal traveller camps arrive in Silsden |

with all the goverment cuts there wont be enough police to do anything g4 security are advertising for staff to do the polices work, the big stone to stop entry was replaced on fri by myself and 2 other like minded people, as councillor mallinson didnt do as he said he would at the neighbourhood forum in early march he was going to get the stone moved (if i remember right the next day) people say allsorts when they want votes doers is what we need not talkers |

Lack of interest in this thread about issues for candidates but heres another one..what about a mini roundabout for Bell Sq/Bolton Rd |

I may.be.being naive, but I would like to see our community getting the council services we pay for, ie police presence in town, street lighting, cleaning etc. I am of the opinion that we are seen as a rural backwater, to be left with the dregs of the BMDC finances and services. |

I agree Gamekeeper. Seems like as we are on the border of the area and we are not as middle class as say Ilkley we get screwed every which way. I see the street cleaners nearly every morning in Ilkley (pass there on my way to way) but you don't see them very often in Silsden. And my experience of the neighbourhood policing team is none to favourable/ It's like we are forgotten about, quite frankly it makes my blood boil. |

gazzer we were top of the highways list for the last financial year re bell square ,but alas the money ran out, ive fought for the last 18 years to get something done. adrian naylor was the ward councillor who pushed for us to go top. so you see thats something else he has tried to get. |

Street cleaning would be very high on my agenda. Elliott St. in particular. Like another post, I worked in Ilkley, every morning there were machines going around town, |

a pelican crossing at briaredene would also be welcome, also someone asked about some sort of crossing at clogbridge on here very recently.come on ward councillors lets hear some posotives from you |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Where would you site a crossing at Clog Bridge? It is really dangerous crossing the road anywhere around there since they altered the road by Waterloo Mill. ![]() Sorry, this was just a thought and not intended to change the topic subject. |

Like another post, I worked in Ilkley, every morning there were machines going around town, Maybe, just maybe the Council read this website. Saw a street cleaner this morning, walking, even though he was mainly just taking bags out of bins!! |

I will probably be slated for this one, but Derbyshire County Council recently advertised various postings for Right of Way technicians, monitorng etc. With Richard Perham, being the only BMDC ranger, who is monitoring all the public footpaths in this area? Look at pedestrian access to the canal from Woodside road,The footpaths round the Nab? I am not knocking the land owners, they have businesses to run etc, but as a parent with a toddler, how can anybody be expected to use a pushchair on these rights of way?? |

You have to wonder what went on in the field above Aireville Cres.Guess someone could end up with that land if planning gets granted |

The school field is at the top of Daisy Hill I thought.I mean the field that had a well worn footpath diagonal across it, maybe used by Drabble House Farm, but Council owned? |

YES that's the one Remember this topic started in 2008 (worth a read though to the end) x-ref www.silsden.net/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=782&recordnum=0 In the LDF proposals it was designated to be used for housing, but then where would all the children go to school? As Skippy said it has now reverted back to safeguarded use to be used in the future (if required) for a school. |

Like another post, I worked in Ilkley, every morning there were machines going around town, I followed the Ilkey "machine" into Silsden this morning. At the Zebra by the bookies, to my surprise it mounted the pavement and proceeded to sweep the path. Then I saw the road sweeper wagon on Howden Rd. The power of Silsden.net |

yes we had road sweeper this morning and gritter on friday and saturday night! not sure that was warranted a bit of a waste of money but I suppose in view of mild winter there is a stockpile of grit.Long may the road sweeping and litter picking continue |

A road sweeper swept our road today - perhaps they do read the forum, but then again perhaps it's our turn to get the road sweeper. |
