This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Bradford's Labour group have elected Susan Hinchcliffe to replace Dave Green as Leader of Bradford Council. Cllr Hincliffe is best known for being in charge of Bradfords failing schools.

Have you heard anything about Brad Met wanting the land to the side of spring bank nursing home/ Howden road Cemetery for building? I thought it was allocated for the expansion of the cemetery bought in the 1920s. or could it be connected to the Spring bank care home extension.

The cemetery was dedicated in 1930 and in 2008 Bradford Council estimated that it would become full inside 9 years(2017).
I may have heard the land is too rocky for future expansion which raises the question do Bradford have a plan for a new cemetery?

Not off topic at all, surely the head of Bradford council whose job encompasses all that matters to a rate payer, can be included in the topic. (true)
