This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

The parking on Kirgate is now down to the fish & chip shop again. Brad Met should have left it as it was, there were no problems re thru traffic, but I notice today that there is congestion on the corner by the Lion pub because traffic at either end are not able to see on-coming traffic.

Cannot believe this has happened. More traffic delays, more pollution from vehicles idling as they struggle through, total shambles! Can STC not intervene to help reverse this?

We all know Bradford knows best. Just as they insist on charging for parking in Wesley Place which causes many to park at the side of the street rather than pay off street to do 5 minutes shopping.

However, I believe Bradford can only change road markings temporary for 6 months before they have to reinstate them. Bradford have never applied for the sensible option of reduced parking to be a permanent feature.

Let's all enjoy the resulting pollution.

The pollution mainly affects pedestrians, including women and schoolchildren. Can STC not ask for readings to be taken in the town to see what effect there is? Then they can lobby Bradford to get something changed about the 6 months rule, and a bit of common sense applied for a change. Some issues are worth pushing in the interests of local people, it's not just motorists who are affected.

how is this anything to do with parking on the main street? the extra spaces are back but the 30 minute wait time is also in force meaning the spaces will be more likely to be empty that previously when there was no restriction

These reason always quoted by batrd met is that the parking DOES slow traffic down. It acts as a natural traffic calming meaning there is no speeding through the centre of the town.

Might not be to everyones like but thats the reason.

At one point people were asking for a 7.5ton limit on traffic through town -that woul dmake much more sense.

this post has been edited 1 time(s)

cant put a 7.5 ton limit on an A road, unless theres a bypass,or someting structual that cant take the weight,ie addingham got 7.5 limit and 20mph because of bypass.

Better have a word with Derbyshire council then

https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport-roads/roads-traffic/traffic-management/freight-management/weight-limits/weight-limits-roads-and-highways.aspx

They csn be applied to prevet congestion on unsuitable roads. No bypass required.

On Saturday I stood outside Isherwood's and watched the traffic queued back in both directions because a van had parked in the end slot. The traffic was queuing from the canal bridge, and on the Bolton Road side from the Bell Square junction.

Is there any wonder the air quality is so poor in the center of Silsden and parking along that bit is a good way to lose a wing mirror?

Have you any solid evidence that the air quality is poor in the centre of Silsden, if you have please publish it.
