Have just been down Kirkgate, there is flooding outside the pet shop, cars passing spraying water onto pavement and the crossing outside the betting shop is unusable due to water build up. I so agree with Grandad, ( Ramp outside Town Hall) the money could be put to much better use, I.e. Cleaning out drains. |

ALL the drains on Kirkgate from Bilaluci to Elliot Street are blocked. The bottom Zebra crossing at the Elliot Street junction was actually underwater the other day.
This requires a bit more action than the usual individual reporting I think - STC please sort it out. |

This will show Bradford up for what they are, if it is raining when the Tour comes through Town! The STC can try and get the drains cleared, but you know as well as anybody Bradford will do nothing to help Silsden. |

Yes I have reported it twice to BDC and the Highways agency Spoke to someone who did not know where Silsden was but eventually spoke to someone who could understand and they sent a street sweeper but the drains are still blocked Usless *********** |

Midday 9 Feb 2014
Outside Bilaluci

Outside the Red Lion

Outside Dogs Body

Outside Arabesque and THE CROSSING
When I was taking these pictures the lake outside Arabesque had gone down BUT earlier you would have needed your waders on to cross the zebra crossing

Yes, I'm watching the news but I don't suppose Bradmet are going to go to Somerset! However, no doubt whenever they come to Silsden to check the drains on Kirkgate it's dry and not a puddle in sight. This is not good for business or pedestrians. |

Peter is spot on about this, a few cleared drains would make a huge difference, and if the beck overflows opposite Bilaluci's, then the drains will not be able to cope, and we would have a real flood! Stitch in time, and all that.... |

Has Midway tried negotiating the high street when all the drains have been unable to cope with the rain due to being WELL BLOCKED? I walked along by Martins one morning, waited for the traffic to gap, then ran like the clappers all the way to Bilalucis. Unable to cross the road due to the level of water on the crossing. Yes we are all aware of what is happening in the south, poor souls, we should thank our lucky stars, but that isn't an excuse for the badly blocked drains here not being sorted out. When there was a lull in the weather and the paths were dry, the drains were still full to the top with water. It can't be doing any of the property much good getting the spray constantly. Twice I have seen folk running along by the pet shop getting a soaking. Perhaps compensation claims should be submitted to BradMet!! Anyone on the council with some clout that can get this sorted? |

Saw the council drain cleaner up Bolton Road this morning so I assume on its way through Silsden it cleared all these drains, after all what sort of corporation would send a driver out to go right past blocked gullies. |

Have rung BMDC this afternoon. On our way back this morning, large puddles from the dual carriage way all the way into town. Crossing by bookies under water again, awful if you need to use that to cross over Kirkgate. Told the young lady that the drains are blocked all the way from main road up through Silsden. We'll live in hopes of a clear out. Young man by the golf range/football ground this morning walking along, white van man went right into the kerb edge through enormous puddle, the wave must have been 6 foot high, drenched the young chap. No need for that to happen as there wasn't any traffic opposite him coming from the Silsden side. Won't say what I called the plonker. |

Silsden's drainage problems are the end result of a much larger problem, so we must ask: why are the drains blocked and what is causing the blockage? The answer is something we can all do something about: STOP LITTERING! I don't look down drains, but if I did I'm sure I would see plastic bottles, beer and soft drink cans, and other assorted rubbish that has been discarded by thoughtless Silsden residents. |

There is sufficent catchment space in a road gully to hold a fair amount of rubbish as long as maintainence(emptying) is carried on a regular basis. |

That's good news Chris', walked up from Belton Road yesterday, all but 1 grate was blocked. In fact, an awful lot of the grates I have passed seem to be silted up. Not good news for the properties along side them. |

They came yesterday and did some of the ones on Keighley Road. I have only been filling out the online forms on the Bradford Council website for about 3 years about them. I am going to email them again and book the one for another 3 years time |
