This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

One of my best friends from school is from Steeton, and he told me there is a pub/club in Steeton, the location of which is a closely guarded secret to outsiders, especially Cobbydale folk! After getting him drunk he told me it is down an alley way on the right at the top of station road, just PAST the bus-stop, just BEFORE the office/flower shop.
Does anyone else know anything about this?
Should Steeton lads be banned from Silsden?

There is a private club in Steeton called The Dock, which is a derivative of Pondock, which I think is some kind of localspeak for a place to talk. It is apparently just like someones living room and has some rather eccentric characters who imbibe there regularly. It is male only and the regulars are probably all over 55. I know some old geezers who go there and they love it.

Hello to everyone. Came down to Silsden/Steeton/Skipton
last weekend from Geordieland with a bunch of musos, and had a
thoroughly grand time. Met some great people
(you know who you are!) and played music in some great places
including the secret club in Steeton you mention (yes it certainly is very small!). Some great ales too.

I also got christened "Mysterious Dave"; my new alter-ego. Next year
I might bring my organ down (watch out girls, no more mysteriousness).

I too have heard about this secret club... it is a men's only club as well. I did hear they do have a women's toilet... for the cleaner to use! but is is only acessed via the men's toilet! Women are strictly not allowed in the club and I have also heard the average age is at least 60+. the beer must be good though as the people I know who go there always seem to be there getting drunk!

That's just sexist after all the years that men and women have tried to become equal they do this!
