I've identified our type of youths in Silsden. Here's a spotters guide and general info on why they are abusive etc

I thought that discrimination against a group of people wasn't politically correct.
Why doesn't this apply to youths?
It seems that we brand the many by the minority of idiots!

If you could spell that would help. If you don't like being called a Chav or a Scally then you shouldn't act like one then you wouldn't be one!

I don't act like a ‘chav’ or a ‘scally’.
But I doubt that your intellect wouldn't be capable of realising that a ‘Chav’ is a stereotype and that it isn't a good idea to view everyone that way.

Think before you judge people or you could end up in trouble blobby!

Maybe "blob" the youth of Silsden would have more respect if people like you made more of an effort and had some respect for them!

There is an exellent book called, I think, Hooligan. It is a history of socities perception of crime through the ages. It is a long time since I read it, but the conclusions were interesting.

Life was always better before, but always distant enough in the past to cloud memories (I believe the locals burnt down Silsden police station around 1900 - now they want to keep it open)

Yesterdays 'bad boy' (usually male) becomes tomorrows fashion influence: Teddy Boys and rock and Roll, Punk!

Perception of crime has always been much greater than actual crime.

Populist poiticians and the popular press jump on the band wagon, a few silly laws are passed, rarely is anything solved, the problem fades away, and life moves on.

There is nothing new - all civilisations from the dawn of time have had the same problems. Genetic engineering might be the answer though.

Some people on here could do with genetic manipulation, maybe to see that descrimination is wrong and that judging the many by the few hooligans isn't the right way to go!

Blob - i agree with u about the chavs - but I aren't a chav. Not all of us are chavs - although they're usualy the ones who do the damage - so don't blame all of us kids. OK?

why dont u halp set up some CCTV project or something like that?

Chav is a derogatory slang term currently in popular usage throughout England. It refers to a subculture negatively-stereotyped as being uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behavior. The label is typically (although not exclusively) applied to teenagers and young adults of white working class or lower-middle class origin. A male chav is sometimes referred to as a chavster and a female as a chavette, although chav is typically used to refer to both sexes.

I was led to believe that CHAV stood for Council House and Violent Scum. Whatever it stands for, the youth of today is no different than the youth of yesterday - remember punks? Young people are the same as we were. They just have different clothing, language and identity. If you engage young people you'll find they are normal kids who are growing up.
