This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

went for 6 items at aldi this morning and u could`nt park it was that full,35 mins to get through 6 checkouts, and a queue right down the isles, due to selfish me me me mindless PANIC buying morons stocking up,good job aldi was limiting to one item on some things ,just goes to show how a virus has put panic in some of us,most supermarkets have put on line they have plenty of future stocks to keep supplies going ,but even those will go if this selfish PANIC buying spree dos`nt stop.

Why do people do it? For one thing, because they've been told: "Don't panic buy", and inevitable the word "Don't" got filtered out. Also because they've been told that they might have to go into self-isolation for 14 days (sorry, correction, up to 3 months.) What do they do if they need food, medication and toiletries? No problem - get your friends and family to leave them on your doorstep. What if they haven't got any friends or family, or if they're all also self-isolating? Ermmmmm .... That seems to be the point at which the glib answers run out.

As well as the big picture, the powers-that-be need to start thinking about the details.

no bread at coop 11am so panic buyers must be branching out,so why are they not limiting 2 loaves per person so locals, (that are not panic buyers), can get their bread.but did hear a good thing they turned away a couple from bradford and told them to go and raid their own local shops, dont know how true that is but that a plus if they did.
