IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Before any new houses are built there needs to be some joined up planning for the infrastructure of Silsden |

Cllr mallinson mad a valid point, would the site be better used for expansion of aire view school, don't know whether this is a possibility or not but there is no doubt the schools are running out of room |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) ginjo.. I agree...great idea in the short term, but we need a brand new joint school for the long term.. maybe the Tesco site? Then more housing could go on the present school sites at Aire View and Hothfield.. Not an original idea.. mooted in the past I think? |

Think the Kly Road site would be a grate place to build a School. Then the old school could be sold for housing. A win win situation! |

i dunno about that. it's a fair way out for kids to walk, along a busy road with concerns about safety and health concerns from the car pollution. if kids don't walk because of the distance then that means more parents doing more school runs at peak times on an already busy route. but where else could a new school go? how about on the green and skippy's transfer yard? |

quote Permission is being sought for 12 Apartments to be built!!! Its a big area and would brighten up Elliot Street, & its classed as a "Brown Field Site". ![]() |

Just a thought, Why not compulsory purchase the keighley road site with a view to build a new school.( that's before the land value is increased ). |

How can you build on a contaminated old tip and a culvert?. The "tip" was given to Silsden for recreational purposes as previously said by Skippy skippy Website Member Posts : 2668 Website Member 17/04/2013 : 15:53:35 reply with quote hat the tip was dug up in the late 90s so bfd could locate the tunnel they dug across from foster ave to bradley road with a jcb, the had to do it from that angle because of the depth. it was origionaly tipped after baron hothfield gave the old ghyll edge to silsden urban district council " to be filled and then levelled and a road and footpath to be laid from fardene st to bradley rd as an access road then be left as an open space forrecreational purposes" |

Surely it would be possible to bus the children to a new school on the outskirts of town from various pickup sites in Silsden? It is done for those going to South Craven now, just needs organising. Our children should not be in outdated Victorian buildings with temporary add ons. Keighley has had new secondary schools, and they are going to build a huge new primary there as well. STC should be pushing hard on this. Other places have transport facilities, which are also traffic reducing and secure for the children too. |

When I was 5 I walked the equivalent distance from Silsden to the obvious site for a new school. Down hill and across an A road as well. A decent footpath/cyclepath with own foot bridge would make more sense than 'bussing'. |

I doubt there will be any buses, Bradford do not want to pay for travel to Crosshills, so they will not pay for a few hundred yards. I am sure the kids would love to walk, it will be their parents that wont walk. |

As this is the last major textile mill in Silsden can somebody with a decent camera get access to document whats left of the mill before it goes? |
