Can anyone tell me what has happened to the town band, i,ve heard rumours of the the conductor being sacked and loads of players leaving. Does anyone know whats going on? |

According to the paper the band are still going but struggling for players. Having just spoken to a friend who knows someone in the band, it seems the conductor decided to leave after over 5 years with the band (and was not sacked) and the players that have left are either moving abroad or off to university. The last time I saw or heard them was at the Gala and they looked a little wet and there were certainly far fewer of them than in the past. I also did not see a conductor with them - if i remember rightly she was tall with really long hair. Lets hope they get things going again and are there to play for us again soon. - Only wish I was muscial so I could join them. |

Silsden band take the mik, they play there borin musik every thursday up by all the old people keeping them awake with their raket all nite! |

A friend of mine plays in the band and said that the bands commitee had asked the conductor to leave ? do you think it was because she was a women? because when i,d heard them in the past she always seemed very good, makes you wonder doesnt it? |

Just found this site! What a discouraging lot of messages The band is still going and GROWING there is nothing against a female conductor - the present conductor is female. The practices on Tuesday evening are hard work but fun - ask around - see who has heard them recently before making judgements |

From what I've heard, the band is undergoing something of a renaissance. They might not win many prizes but enjoy themselves & provide good entertainment to anyone lucky enough to hear them! |

Nothing wrong with the Gala - just referring to an earlier message reporting very few members and looking very wet, apparantly they did a sterling job last gala |
